No worries Z, I plan on moving west as soon as possible(i.e.right after h.s.). Thanks for the compliments though. Thanks in part to this board I'm obsessed with fat skis and broke as a result(the only skis there I didn't pay for are the race boards which I got on pro-form). Oh well, broke with a nice quiver is better than rich with old skis.

I agree I might have bought him some skis that are a little bit big for him, but he still skied them like a champ at the end of last season.

    Just sharpies.

It stay pretty well. Fades a little after a few days, but then you just touch it up.

The K2 topsheet hold the ink very well for some reason.

    boy, you sure hope so...

...now, here's my question - what's the decision process for which ultra-fat to use? I mean the FFFs and the spats seem kind of redundant

That's just redonkulous... The Spat's and FFF's ski completely differently... I'd say it depends on mood, snow depth, day of the week (at an area), and which area, of course.

I haven't skied the FFF yet, but....

I believe they are gonna ski extremely different.

Spats are fun for short lines, trees, just kind of messing around in pow, crud, or corn. they are ok for going really fast, but I feel like I would have more fun skiing a ski like the FFF when trying bigger lines, etc. I think if I was back in CO or maybe skiing Alpental I would rather be on the spats as they do great in tigher spots. At crystal, though, I think I will enjoy the FFF a lot.

So, It will also be dependent on the snowfall, my mood, etc.

I guess I really don't know yet, though, having yet to ski the FFF, so when I finally do you can ask

All I do know is that they are both fucking sick.

That'd be rad, until you had to traverse 5 miles back into the area at Alpy...

    See Jumper...

yeah, it would be a bitch to get out there, a bitch to get back.

I have snowboarding friends who are stupid enough to think they would be fine doing it.

I-5 at crystal isn't too much fun either.
