    Speed

Nothing clears my head like speed. I can't think of a better way to accomplish this than on skis. Straightlining a chute, sumitting to gravity, with giant rocks on either side of you. Making super G turns down a groomer, coming around a turn, and seeing a hump in front of you, prompting you to say "oh shit!" Cruising through some trees, shoulders brushing them, hoping and praying you can manage to turn around all of them. The various frames of reference and the ability to push the envelope in each one is awesome. The only other thing I can legally think of is in a boat, but while 70 in a boat is great, it doesn't compare to 70 on skis. No way in hell... and summer is over.

I need to clear my head really bad. I need speed. I need to ski. Is it winter yet?

Dude. You need to find some better dealers. You won't have to chase them down on skis and cliffs and all of that. They'll bring the speed that you need to you sometimes! In months other than winter even.

    Thumbs up

I sometimes find it hilarious that late night threads turn into AKPM bashing sessions....

This is one of those times for sure.

It's only 3.45pm here, still got another 8 hours of bashing to go then.

I'm just amazed he can get the needle in his vein while doing 70 on skis. He also eluded to shooting up while doing 70 in a speed boat. I suppose that's possible if the water's not too choppy...

70 mph? You should try something north of 130. Keeps you pretty concentrated...

Try going that fast on a skateboard......

I dunno how fast I went, but is scared the piss out of me. You can't 'hit the ground running' after a certain point, and I had passed that point.... I think I melted my wheels a little bit...

Yeah, but no more then when you're at a standstill. If you're gonna shoot up regardless, you might as well have that extra adrenaline rush going while you shoot up. This year, I plan on hucking a 90 footer and shooting up while mid-air. Either that, or mid run on the Heart Chute at Kirkwood. I bet the experience of breaking bones while on a speed trip is something that words cannot describe!

    Hell YES

There's nothing like top-to-bottom super g runs to spike the adrenaline and burn stress.

I remember bombing down the Cabot Trail on Cape Breton Island on my mountain bike with knobby tires and full touring paraphenalia strapped to the back (tent, sleeping bag, clothes etc.). I topped out at 79kph (just shy of 50mph). That was a rush.

Sick and ashamed and happy (and would have hit 80 but I didn't have the nerve to pass the car I'd caught up to),
