Yup, they were sure flying high at that point. Nice that Jerry decided to make a movie and capture it for posterity. I've seen bits and pieces before online, but this is the cleanest version I've come across.

Someone kindly added an index in the comments...

Unfortunately, Jerry had just been introduced to Persian in Europe of ‘74 and the pressure of editing that movie and the time off in ‘75 sent him deep down the rabbit hole.

That just doesn't seem possible, does it? Nor '95 fast coming up on 30. Sigh.

    On a happier note...

Just saw jgb with Melvin seals in Maine. They were pretty good, fake Jerry sounds like real Jerry. I think it’s a different Jerry then when I last saw them 15 years ago but still putting on a tight show.

In our 16/17 year old minds, Saratoga was way closer than Hershey or Baltimore so friends and I only saw the SPAC show. Turns out that given the perennial traffic jam at SPAC both other venues would have been better. Of course we did get to enjoy Jerry with 40k other people back when the full lawn was part of the music venue (now cut off by beer vendors).

Full lawn with delay towers, that flat back section was a full-on dance party. So loud! I was 20 years old that summer and was eating LSD like it was a part-time job.

"People need celebration in their life. It's part of what it means to be human. We need magic and bliss and power, myth, and celebration in our lives. And music is a good way to encapsulate a lot of it." - Jerry Garcia

Get past the cheesy intro and this is a nice compilation of a lot of different folks thinking about and celebrating the life of Jerry Garcia, which is what I'm doing today as well.

I believe this is the first known recording of Jerry - 1962.

Hunh, Jerry was a leftie. I must not have been paying much attention.

So, I can kinda understand why this was left in the vault, but it’s cool to know about. This is new to me. I can’t imagine how good of a vehicle it could have been for JGB with a bunch of woodshedding.

I think that image is flipped. I've never seen him play left. Maybe there is more to the story?

Poking around on Youtube tonight stumbled across this, which I had seen once many years ago. Interesting/fun discussion.
