Getting the stink out of musty, stanky canvas...

So I have this great old millitary duffle bag, but it sat in a box for who knows how long. I have tried washing it multiple times in Arm & Hammer with Oxyclean, scrubbing it in the tub, leaving it out, Febreeze, freezing and thawing it multiple times to kill any bacteria or whatever... and there is still a distinct musty smell. What am I missing? Any other ideas? The next plan is to leave it outside day and night until it stops smelling.

    Try washing in a 10:1 water-bleach solution?

I have heard a pine sol/water bath can work.

Also was just told to coat with baking soda, put in a plastic bag overnight, then wash with 1/4 cup vinegar instead of detergent. Interesting, thanks for the ideas...

And if it doesn't disintegrate after all that, it probably won't smell anymore.

you gotta kill the mold/bacteria causing the funk. Hard as hell to do this with canvas. The smoker idea is good...you could also probably stick it in the oven at 350 or 400, see if you can google what temperature homeless shelters cook their clothes at.
UV light kills a lot of stuff too. Hang it out on a sunny day and see if that works.
You could also spray it down with lysol then wash it again
    The killer awoke before dawn.

My bad for not reading close enough to see that you had already tried Fabreze. Seams like I remember my mother telling me that ammonia was a good way to kill mold and mildew.
The smoker idea sounds like a winer though.

Zinnzer Permawash and water 1:5. Set up tent - spray on with one of those pump garden sprayers and let it totally dry. I just did this with a big canvas tent.
