Yes, but does the bonus disc include Chebacca tearing Jar Jar Binks arms out of his sockets?

got the dvd pack the other day and have watched episode 4 and 1/2 of Empire Strikes back. Initially I thought I was going to be pissed off with all the changes that Lucas has made. Spent a bunch of time thinking "this cockbag is trying to ruin my childhood memories". but so far I agree that it has been great. A definite highlight is when Luke gets whacked by that yeti thing on the 6th planet of the Hoth system. The new version shows the yeti feasting on what I'm assuming was Luke's ton-ton which is kinda cool. I think one part that is going to really piss me off, is at the end of Jedi, instead of the gay ewok song, they show even gayer jar jar's people partying and whatnot...you just don't fuckin mess with the ewok song. maybe I'm wrong and it's not fucked with but I am pretty sure it is.
anyways, it's cool, good to FINALLY have it on DVD.
thats new hampshire as fuck
We ain't eager to be legal, so please leave me with the keys to your Jeep Eagle.

Yeah, he changed the original song with the first changes he made. New song sucks. Haven seen it with the jar jar people. don't really want to. Watched a cool documentary on one of the bonus discs. Good stuff. Didn't really realize the impact the shows had at the time. Made me a bit nostalgic as I remembered watching Return of the Jedi on my 8th birthday in the theatre. Still my favorite of all.Originally Posted by vinzclortho
Vinz,
The party scenes you speak of were added in the Special Editions released to the theatres in (I believe) 1997. Old news. One of the features at the end of SERoTJ is the partying, which as I remembered it included celebrations at Bespin, Tatooine, and Coruscant...can't seem to remember Naboo being there too, but sure enough, it is now. And you can hear a Jar Jar character yelling "Wesa free!" in the background. Hmm.
Without sounding too much like a Star Wars nerd (which I am), one would think you'd replace the Coruscant scene with Naboo...as Coruscant, being the Imperial stronghold, is the last place you'd think there'd be partying in the streets celebrating the Emperor's death. And if there were, it'd be supressed bloodily mighty quick. Anyway, they're all there, and yes as I can tell the Ewok song is a little different, more of a protracted party scene.
The big change in SERoTJ that I don't like, is the song by Sy Snootles and the band in Jabba's palace, right before Oola, the Twi Lek dancer, gets iced by the Rancor. Instead of it being a low-profile song, it's been replaced by a much-expanded CGI scene, with a bit of computer showboating going on. I don't like it as it doesn't look very real at all. On the other hand, there are a few more shots of Oola meeting her doom, so that's pretty cool.
The biggest change with the DVD editions, aside from the DVD benefits of clarity and quality, is little character tweaks. For example, at the end of RoTJ, during the Ewok song, when you see Luke seeing the Jedi ghosts, Anakin Skywalker is now played by Hayden Christensen, instead of David Prowse (who was the actor in the suit for Darth Vader). And I've heard, but not seen yet, that in Empire, when Darth speaks to the Emperor via Holonet, that it is now Ian McDiarmid, who played the Emperor in RoTJ and then Eps 1-3, replacing the guy they had before (Clive Revill).
Also, if you watch RoTJ, right after Leia gets shot in the arm during the Ewok battle, Harrison Ford totally cops a feel when checking if she's okay, hands all over the place. It's hilarious, I'd never seen it before, but with all this clarity and the ability to scan back and freeze-frame on a DVD...god bless DVD technology....
Wow.
I know I'm new around here, but you're a fuckin nerd.![]()

Put on your seat belt, I saw this in a cartoon once.
There's a great interview with me on disc four, but it's an easter egg and I'm not going to give you any hints.
