    Official Castle Mini Thread

When do you want to do it?

Do we want to rent a place all together this year again (I'm not in a position to be on the hook for this this year, so some one else would have to be willing)? If some people don't mind staying in lethbridge I'll probably drive back and forth and have floor couch space available and I can get really good rates at the hotel where mrs two_planks works. Also there is a lot more available as far as nigthlife, food, etc. Down side would be the 1 1/4 hr drive to Castle.

Should we stick to strictly Castle Mt or would you want to head up to Fernie for a day?

I'm going to try to make it for at least one day. Wish I could commit to more, but with another little Canuk arriving in November, snow time might be severly limited this year. If I can get consecutive days in, I'd love to do Fernie and Castle...
I went out there in search of experience. To taste, and to touch, and to feel as much as a man can, before he repents.

Beer at the T-bar and the hill is all ya need. Wish I could ski it again this year. Won’t happen unless all gets turned upside-down.

Wish it was easer to get season leasing for the rv hookups and showers.

It’s so quiet, it’s so cool, it’s so cold

How soon would things need to get booked? I need to Dec for the cash to start flowing the right way, but might be able to help out then.

Seeing as Castle and Fernie for that matter can be very good or not so good (weather dependent) how about this as a approach. Pick a couple of weekends that work with a core group's schedule and if the weathers good release the hounds on wednesday and drive down Friday morning . May not be able to stay close but something in the crowsnest. That way can hit castle or fernie depending on snow. I would take the friday off of both wekends and just show up at work if we didn't go that weekend.

I like this idea. I might only be able to get out on the weekend this way, but with taking a week off for Jackson and some time to go to Seattle this winter that might be all I can swing any ways.

I plan this way all winter, so it works for me.
How flexible is everyone's schedule to be able to jump when the forecast is right? If we could get a bunch mags together to catch back to back days like last years 110+ cm dump provided, it could be interesting. We shouldn't have a problem grabbing rooms at the last minute if we leave Sparwood/Crowsnest as options, should we?
Although, setting up camp for a couple days right at Castle would be sweet - I'm still pissed that work screwed me on that last year.

I'll check in Dec. which weekends have races at Castle and set / propose dates to avoid those weekends. But if in Sparwood it wouldn't make a difference. I know people that have a condo in Sparwood that didn't use it that much last year so might be able to get that for close to free.

I'm definitly in this year....depending on the date and prior trip commitments.
I have a place in the rough and tough town of Sparwood so if the timing is right, I can sleep at least 10.

    Dates

How about Jan 14-16, 2005? not too soon after new years and not to close for those of us planning on driving down to summit. If its Sparwood then Castle races won't effect lodging avail. Whats the driving time for Sparwood to Castle? Depending on snow could do drive down hit Castle stay night in Sparwood then Fernie next day , night in Sparwood then hit Castle kinda on way home. I alos might be able to get some free space in Sparwood.

Drive time is 1 hour from the wood to the castle.
Jan 14 - 16 won't work for me or Johnny Gunn as we will be rippin Valhalla that weekend.

No shit. Im guessing its probably north of kirkwood right. So if its an hour north of the wood that makes it about a 25minute drive for me. Count me in.

Does Jan 21-23 work for everybody? Still a weekend off before the summit.

Checking the schedule, I'm only tied up New Years weekend and last weekend in Feb. so those days would work for me.

Wow, which New Year's party are you going to?

Anyways, checking my extremely busy schedule, I see that except for the Utah Mini and JH summit, I am basically available every weekend from November 1/04 until October 31/05. So whatever weekend is best for everyone else is fine by me.

(All this is assuming good snow. I don't do weekends AND crappy snow.)

21-23 works I think. Need to confirm with buddy that I own my place in Sparwood with, that he/we don't or won't have a house full that weekend already.....probably won't know for sure until December though

Oh ya I too have the 4 - 9th booked off for another Summit and Jackson adventure.
