    TR: Remarkables, NZ 9-20-2004

    Back in NZ...

Still winter conditions at the Remarks. Skied the 19th half-day right off the plane and hit up the Alta Chutes for a couple of runs. We had some severe flat light and wind but the snow was super winterized and sick....hike and skied "Diagonalator" with my mate Woody with no tracks and about a foot deep. It slid a little but it was a great way to get off a 24 hour journey.

Today we hit the Remarks again with the sun peaking through the window but as usual a single cloud sat over the Remarks. More flat light, wintery snow, and people in shorts and a T-shirt in Queenstown, it was time to do some skiing.

Brought the digi-cam this time and took some shots, but with the flat light it made life a little difficult.

Nice TR. Glad someone is getting some.

Good to see pics of QT and the Remarks.

    Thumbs up great pics!!

Awww, I miss that place! Sept. 20 is my birthday, and last year I was at Craigie and woke up to over a foot of fresh, and the nutcracker was closed because of wind, and I skinned up with a few patrollers and had the entire mountain of fresh powder all to myself, the whole day. It was sweet for the whole next week, and I lived in the parking lot and ate it all up.

    Best 21st birthday EVER.

22nd was fun, but it just couldn't compare.
Not on here much anymore. Drop me an email if you want to contact me. Have a wonderful winter!

Looked like 666 didn't have particularly good Gnar hunting conditions. I'm waiting for Gnar hunting season to open here again.

I was wondering this myself. Do you have some kind of mysterious airline hookup for trips to the Southern Hemisphere? Two trips + taking the Mrs. (unless she is a Kiwi) = mucho dinero!

However you get it done - god bless. Great pics all summer and sweet tunes too!

Looks like you guys are having a great time.....much better time and snow than when I was there ....did you gys ski the toilet bowl.? hike lookers left above the quad (the one that goes lookers left) and the run drops back down to the road to catch the shuttle intended for folk heading down from the oposite side.

Would've been a good supplement to "The Precious".

    Wonderful, man. Love the theme.

I had a question though: what's it like to get off a plane and ski hard in deep pow after having your legs cramped for 10 hours straight? Abuse? Just the thought makes me tighten up and say owww....

Max try Sydney to Vancouver onto Whislter - 24 hours door to door. you will be that excited to ski I don't think having your legs cramped up for 10 hours is going to worry you at all.
