Question Beacon and Heart Rate monitor?

    No I didn't search.

I have just started working out with a heart rate monitor and find the whole thing very interesting. That being said, I will probably tour with it at times this winter.

Are there any know issues or problems associated with conflicts between avi beacons and heart rate monitors?

you could, say, test it yourself by doing some beacon drills with it on...

From my very limited and old knowlede aquired from reading my beacon manual, you need to keep it at least 15cm from any other device. Especially if the other device contains a magnet.

I never knew why i bothered reading manuals.. UNTIL NOW! Is it possible i may have just saved your life?
If you are getting rad but there is no one to see you. Are you really getting rad at all?

Yes I have toured with a heart rate monitor. I did as much testing at home as I could think of (whilst drunk) and found the heart rate monitor Polar T31 really wasn't sending a powerful enough signal to make any real interferance. If i got the tranny right up against it on the right angle and held my mouth and tougne pointing north east and pulled the right face the tranny would make the sightest noise of interferance peroidically, however it was much less the the small sony camera on moive mode and less than the tv or many other electrical appliances in the house. but models may vary.
I know this has come up before in other threads but its almost the same topic. you cell phone WILL interfer with your tranny on search function. maybe not everytime but all phones put out a strong enough signal. If you tour with me your cell stays off!!!
I personally don't believe my H.R.M will cost a life but how many poeple do enough training with theirs and their buddies tranny's, coz we all know wot really happens at a saftey meeting. also the chest strap needs shoulder straps as mine keep falling down whilst riding, yet it doesnt happening when running.

bacon will definitely make you heart rate monitor give increased readings. All that salt, those nitrates, and its juicy smoked goodness will definitely increase your heart rate as you lust for its porky sensual taste

    Some findings here:
    http://www.wildsnow.com/1609/jonatha...on-test-notes/

    With regard to HRM:
-- anything with a magnet (although I have no idea if HRMs have magnets) is almost certain to cause mode switches in close proximity with a DSP
-- I have yet to find any device that can cause interference in transmission
-- lots of devices cause interference in searching, so better test that HRM

    With regard to cell phones:
-- any "smart" phone is likely to cause interference, probably b/c of its internal power conversion (sorry if I garbled that -- this was explained to me by an electrical engineer, but his basic point was that it's *not* the signal transmission)
-- a basic phone never seems to cause interference when it's on but not transmitting
-- some basic phones when making a call cause interference in some beacons

What the hell does this have to do with beacons?
Taken slightly out of context, but just the same, an original quote. Cable TV anyone?
