WTF is the allen screw on the heel piece for? It isn't even mentioned on the install tech document. Is it just a carb hole if I want to make a pipe out of them? Do I fill it with KY Jelly?

I never used it. Here's what you should do..start turning it all the way out and let me know what you find. Thanks.
Maybe I'm an idiot, but I'm sitting next to 3 pairs and I can't find a single allen screw on the heel pieces.Originally posted by Keoni

I have some R412's and I see no allen...
Yeah, it's on the 1018s at least; haven't got any 412 or 614s lying around to chek. It's just a screw that holds together parts of the casing. As you can see from the DIN screw that one is so small that you'd never be able to change/access the spring through that little hole; thus the spring is changed/greased/whatever by disassemplin the housing. I.e. if you're unsure about what the screw was for you proly should just leave it in place (it should be seated with locktite or something) as the springs wouldn't require any service with normal use.

sorry to hear you have atomics. I have worked in a shop the last 3 years and if I would get lets say 10 bindings back with problems 8-9 out of 10 were atomics. But dont worry the screw realy just lets you take the dame thing apart.
