    salomon s916 weight query...

is the weight worth it? I just mounted 916s on my spats and they are fricking HEAVY. However, I walked out of the 914s too many times last year not to do something about it. (plus I bent the shit out of the heelpiece plate) Should I stick w/ them or throw my scratch 140 rossi binders on there?

    thoughts?

    Thumbs up

Keep em! You'll adjust to the weight, and not bailing out when you don't want to is worth the extra. It' becomes discernable in after a few trips out.

Now the onslaught of the Rossi rules, etc....

also all the wieght is right under foot. i bet you notice it a lot less once you are moving downhill.

i have the dame setup, and was pretty surprised by the wieght. but really not much heavier than my Nordie FF's with ZRV's.

edit: i have the same set up, not a dame set up. although i'm sure lots of dames could ski such a set up.

basom, youre skiing 916s on spatulas? I think the weight is a little too much...I like a powder ski to be light and super manuverable, you didnt mind the weight?? I feel like i should be doing curls with this ski. But if you think i wont notice it then I will give them a try.

BTW does anyone know what the weight difference is between a 916 and a 914?

If you want your powder ski to be light don't ride Spatulas... they weigh as much unmounted as any other ski in my quiver mounted.

    S916: 1,460g
    S914: 1,175g
    S912ti: 990g

    Look P18: 1,235g
    Look P14: 1,310g

i have yet to ski the set up. but like slim said, i didn't get them to be light.

also, i'm 210 lbs and 6'4" and the other pow skis i have are not much lighter.

only 285 grams more for the916?? really? seems like a hell of a lot more than that. But if thats the truth then I'll sack up and ski em. since they skied great with the 914.... just need some extra insurance to help me stomp.

i would trade em for some looks if I could find a brake for em. The pros have to have a look/rossi wide brake why are they holding on to them like diamonds? Its just stopping us from skiing LOOKS on super fats. Dumbass ski companies....

Arty skis his Spatulas with S916s and he swears by them. Said he doesn't really notice it one way or another.

    Fuck you very much.

I have 916s on both my Spatulas and my Gotamas. The Spatulas feel heavy as hell, but that's just the skis. They'll be heavy no matter what you put on them. I don't even notice the weight on my Gotamas; they're still light as a feather. Don't worry about the Spatulas, they just feel heavy but actually ski fairly light. That's because most of the weight is underfoot; they're light in the tip and tail. Once you get used to them (it takes several days) you'll never go back. I was totally sold on them after 5-6 days.

As for 916s, I love these binders. They're better than my Rossi 140s. They've never, ever prereleased and when I have popped out the release has been super consistent. Also the toe wings didn't need tightening until after 40 days or so. Unlike my 914s which seemed to need adjustment every other day. I'm 6'1" 230 and set them at 11.

Natually, YMMV. But I think you'll be fine.

Great Scott!!! It's in the flux capacitor damnit!!! Come on guys. I think you need a refresher course. It's all ball bearings nowadays.

And yes basom called it perfectly first. I was just being repetitive. I just love being repetitivte. You know saying the same damn thing over and over. Just talking about the same idiotic stuff time and time again...

BTW, my dream ski is the Spatula without that damned metal topsheet.

no, no. the repitition was a necessity. i am just specualtaing using logic, you are speaking from experience. i was just pointing out how my educated guess was on the money.

anyways i'm stoked to have some spatula.
