what do you pay for a river shuttle ?

To drop a group of paddlers on a river , drive their car or cars back to town and pick them up down river in a few days at a pre-arranged time/place maybe 4 to 6 hours on either end

what is the going rate ,what do you get paid or,what have you paid ,what have you been paid ??

I've done it for free for friends. I've paid $50 to outfitters and camp owners in Maine who have driven my car from the put-in to the take-out -- not bad for taking up 10 or so man-hours of their time (two people driving the dirt roads to my vehicle, then caravaning to the takeout, then carpooling back to their base).

Glen Miller will run shuttle on the Cheat or Big Sandy rivers in WV for $10 per person, with a 5 or 6 person minimum. Beers are an extra buck each. It's probably a 20 minute drive one way from put-in to take-out on the cheat, with a solid chunk of it on a pretty bad dirt/logging road. That's my only point of reference. Hitchhiking, however, is usually free.

Don't shuttle bunnies provide the takeout beer too?
If it's a friend do it for free, they'll probably $50.

I did the dropoff for a trip yesturday ,drop offs are always a cluster fuck ,kayakers are usually your ADHD types but this was 3 non commercial rafts full of family and friends ...it was like herding fucking cats

we were told be there at 12 noon but actualy didnt leave till past 3pm , yelled out 3 times put whatever aint going in the raft in the truck cuz we are leaving ... got home at 7pm

I figured on starting 1 hr late so I figure it to be 6hrs of no stress work for 100$ or 17$ an hr ... not a bad wage for a ski bum

the pickup is usually shorter ,the last pickup I made 100$ for <4 hrs work and out of that I brought them a VERY COLD case of beer

come on out to Idaho I will pay you $20 an hour.

we pay $250 per car for MF Salmon shuttles. Put in to take out is a good 7 hours or so.

$350 for Main shuttles. This is 12 hours at least from one end to the other.

SF Boise shuttles about an hour and a half are $60.

you should have just got in and drove off. what river is this?

the Babine river and it was one of my best friends so I couldnt really just drive off ,he did get the bro deal which is is 200$ for the drop & a pickup 3 days later ,the non bro is 250$

so you quote them flat rate and depending on how big of a CF the group is you make anywhere between 16 to 30$ an hr ,if they are bro's and they slide me a little extra I will also have a case of extremely cold corona at the takeout so it sounds to me like I am not gouging and a group of germans offered my buddy 350$ a few years ago .

also what I found is its not too hard to find someone who will give up one day but they can't give up 2 days for both ends of a multi-day so I needed to organise multiple drivers

A shuttle driver on the Babine will save that group an 8 hr round trip + the gas in those vehicals

I got 5 trips this year which will pay for a seasons pass

I know you can't drive off. I have helped do some different shuttles. Especially if I could throw my kayak up top and boat some new stuff.

I enjoy driving around river canyons too.
Did you save it all up for the pass? Well done anyway. Sounds like all concerned got a good deal.

I live well within my means so I don't really need to save the $ so it kind of goes into general revenue ,I had already bought the early bird and a new set of JJ's last april when the hill closed

I have decided to get my class 4 which you need to officialy drive a 15 passenger for a bit of shuttling tourists or whatever ... a low impact way to make a little extra coin
