    Yearbook

I just got home from the bars after watching the new MSP flick,Yearbook.I have to say I really liked this flick.Gaffney's humour is readily apparent .He is the only film maker that doesn't take himself too seriously. He and Shane were at the show,Boy was Shane fucked up! The footage was awesome ! The shots of the airs from the helicopters perspective is spectacular. It gives a totaly new view point to the standard airs.

Shane & Jt's skiing to base jumping airs are outstanding,They are just taking it to another level.

The Boulder theater was packed ,vocal & very enthusiastic .The new chick,Backstrom, throws down big ,& pays for it !So does Sarah Burke.Thank God she doesn't have a package to worry about!!!! I had a great time & am looking forward to seeing it again with the Denver Mags tomorrow.Yes I'm very fucked up,but that has nothing to do with this review.Ciao!

CDPPS. (Coherent drunk post preservation society).

Nice review. Got me all excited to see it when it comes to East High in SLC on Friday, October 1. Any Utards wanna go check it out?

Sicky sick trailer. I like the shot of the skiier jibbing the ledge at the new SLC library. Huge big mountain moves are thrown down too.

Yeah,I was really wasted last night.I was hanging out with some friends that just got back into town.Too many car bombs in too short of a time span.

There was a lot of carnage in this flick. This young kid didn't make a huge gap attempt & was just crushed:Punctured lung ,multiple back fractures,Blown knee,& other fun stuff.

Hugo & Seth had a tough time of it if I remember correctly. They both got injured during the filming of this movie.Seth detailed it completely, but I was left wondering how bad Hugo was hurt. They showed him with ice on his shoulder after this spectacular high speed wipe out.He must of starfished about 15 times. He talked about how he hadn't crashed much in the past, but it caught up with him this year.

Before the film Gaffney talked about how tough this year was for the athletes. It's kind of disappointing that some of the big guns were knocked out of comission ,but that's the reality of going full bore & breaking new ground, you risk breaking yourself in the process. The way Seth was injured was suprising,it's not what you'd expect.

When you watch a film ,you usually only get to see a few wipe outs,& it lends the impression that the athletes just throw down like that all the time with little or no consequences.Reality can suck sometimes!

I liked this film even though I came away with the impression that this flick was very different from what I'm used to seeing. It didn't have what I usually like to see in porn, prodigeous amounts of deep powder shots. The new girl throws down in this flick bigger than any woman I can recall.

I've known Gaffney for years because he's an Ex-Summit CO. guy & used to ski with buddy's of mine. I like his work & he's a great guy,I always support his endevours.

I hate suspense. Seth is my total hero! I'd like to know more if you are willing to tell... (and why didn't I know this before...? )

    Disclaimer

For those that like suspence, don't read this!

I believe Seth broke a bone in his shoulder(it might be his elbow) trying to self arrest after eating it on a hard landing. He crashed & was slidding down this pitch in Bella Coola, trying to kick his feet in stop himself & trying to do the same with his arm,& it didn't look like he hurt himself at all.It obviously hurt differently than it looked.

He travelled across the world, only to have shitty conditions where he went.

Hey, were you at the 9:00 Boulder showing? I was at the 7:00- while there were a lot of people there, the balcony (under 21) was way more packed than the stage-level seating. Kinda nice, made it easier to get to the bar.

I thought it was a good flick, except more park and less pow than I like to see. Ingrid Backstrom definitely throws down. That flip was cool. My question is, what happened to Wendy? Is she considered to be behind the times now?

Afterwards we went to Mountain Sun and I threw back a few Annapurna Amber's and had a jalapeno burger. Yum. Can't wait for the TGR showing...hopefully there'll be more pow in that one.
Not on here much anymore. Drop me an email if you want to contact me. Have a wonderful winter!

I caught the 7pm show last night and the stoke is rising. The kids stocked up on posters and got huckasorass' autograph. I looked around and found Gaffney and had him sign the cover shot of the lastest Powder. He was surprised that someone wanted his sig. We headed to the front so he sign it next to Shane and rub it in that he was signing a cover shot. A great group of guys with a great film, go see it.

Now looking forward to the Soul Purpose supershow on Oct 6.

Yeah Snowfire,I was at the 9pm show, sitting on the second level left side.Great crowd.I caught an exceptionally ugly hat during the swag throw out. They were zinging those dvd's up to the balconey, did you get anything? What ever became of the west nile thing?

Gaffney has always been as humble as his films are humorous.

He does love razzing Shane though,I mean who wouldn't !!!The guys starts gay rumors about his best friend on boards, writes friend's wife's mother notes about his catching AIDS from them?

I didn't catch anything... I was close to a sweatshirt, but some dude nabbed it up. I was lower level left side at the 7, strategically placed between the bar and the stage. They didn't zing any DVD's at our show, damn! I woulda gone up to the balcony and fought those teenagers for 'em.

The WNV thing... I got the west nile rash, so that pretty much confirmed it. After that I decided not to ahve the actual test done as it cost $60, and I'm saving for the Europe trip. I got better and the rash went away though, so it's all good now.

Are you going to the tgr showing on the 6th in boulder? any other maggots attending?

I'm thinking of going up to Boulder for the tgr show since I fly out of Denver the next day. Just hoping that I can meet up w/ a few maggots before hand for a few drinks.

Dude - I may be heading up there to see the show with the ex-girlfriend. I'd be interested in getting a ride and drinking some beers with you.

Oh, the crowd at the 9:00 pm show was awesome. Good energy through the entire crowd - I guess that's because it was a bunch of drunk college students coming back from the game. Anyway, I personally enjoyed Mark Abma's sequence. IMHO, the best of the movie.

    Yeah SF,
I'll be there.Glad you're feeling better! If you catch Europe right you're gonna be so stoked.Where are you going & what month? The base elevation can be very low there,so it can rain.I was there in early March strictly to ski ( caught a 3' pow day) & once made some turns on a whim in late April.

What do FR mags think of having a pre -show get together at my place in S. Boulder?
