some damn good IPA's out there

Visiting my dad in FL so I picked up a six of this. Waaaaay too much caramel malt. I’ll leave the rest here as I won’t be drinking them.



Stopped into Ormond Brewing and tasted several of their options. Great selection in the tasting room. Their IPAs are okay and I took home a 6 of their Lawn Chair. Their stout and black Ale were preferred.

Nice. I had one of their early batches of blood orange a few years ago on draught and it ended up being a rare drain pour. It Looked nothing like that Haze; very clear and sweet.

FKNA! I got a couple cases of Melvin as well. I never realized their s such a reputable brewery right in alpine Wyoming. I could have been bootlegging great beers back to Utah from my trips to BS

I had a Melvin IPA this summer when my brother came out from Brooklyn to visit the folks. We bought it at the local BevMo. Didn't check the BOD. It was okay.
But what I do know (and dig) about Melvin is that they love Wu-Tang and are big kung-fu film nerds (or so I've heard...i.e. that they show flix at the brewery/taphouse and name some of their beers after either films or songs or something...I could be wrong, though, but it works for me).

Super crisp and drinkable "West Coast" IPA straight outta Sacramento, Cali.

Trillium is decent beer, but after trying most of their offerings - their IPAs and DIPAs all taste too similar.

I'm also sort of turned off to them after they screwed over employees by paying them shit wages and it took a Boston Globe article to get them to pay a living wage. But that's old news.

That did seem pretty shitty. That said when we were in town for a show last week we ate at the new place. It’s pretty impressive and I could see it being cool outside there. Their beers have always been good what I had but the VT. beers I’ve been having are consistently more interesting. I’m not any part of the beer intelligentsia though FWIW

"Scrog Grog" Northeast-Style Hazy IPA
Revision Brewing Company, Sparks, NV
BOD: 11/20/18
Last Drunk Date: 12/14/18 (final can of the 4-pack, which retails for about $17 give or take tax)
ABV: 6.5%
IBU: 30
Hops: Citra, Galaxy, Mosaic + milk sugar

I was not immediately taken by this brew when I first drank it roughly a week after canning.
However, tonight, in the wake of a full day of skiing with a 5 y/o, a 6 y/o and a 6.5 y/o (the latter of which who reminded me every few minutes that she was 6-and-a-half and thus older than the rest of the class, fwiw), and then after a shower, I drank my last can with dinner (which was Mahi Mahi fish tacos adorned with iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, green olives, cucumber, avocado, tomatillos, green onion, wild rice, black beans, tofu, and chao cheese on whole grain tortillas). I gotta say, with the meal this beer became pretty damn amazing. It perfectly complimented the food and was way tastier than when I drank it alone (i.e. w/o food).

So that's about 1.5-2 cases worth. I would be in the same boat if I had found it sooner, but with an 11/07 BoD on all the cans I saw, I managed to dodge that spending bullet. Might have to make a routine of swinging by Chuck's once a month or so though.

airways’s chucks’s nonstop is worth a try as well. beers this smooth still kinda trip me out, but i gotta sweet tooth.
