Fun NE IPA tasting. Three from Alchemist and two from Tree House (including Haze not pictured). Tree House is killing it. Alter Ego was probably my favorite with Haze a close 2nd.

Just sitting down at Melvin/Thai Me Up in JH. Started with a Drunken Master and moving on to Carlton. It's been a hell of a week. Pretty sweet when work and a killer beer tour coincide. Drinking 4 of the last 5 Alpha King winners and the last two Small Micro Breweries of the year is a pretty good week.

Been interesting couple of months. Week in September hitting Treehouse, HF, Alchemist, Fiddlehead, Foley Brothers, Trillium. Then this week hitting Tamarack (2016 Alpha King), Überbrew (2015 Alpha King, 2016 GABF small brewery/brewpub of the year, 2016 Gold GABF Double IPA), and now Melvin (too many awards to list).

All in all I would personally give the nod to the hoppy beers I had this week over what I had in September. Crazy I know. NE beers get all the press and all hype but the beers I just had on tap were in my opinion more rounded in their hop profile with a little pine, some juice and some resin. And none of them were hazy! Crazy that someone can make an awesome hoppy beer that isn't cloudy as fuck. I feel like the Treehouse and Trillium beers are just straight juice. For some that's great for me
I prefer a little more variety I guess. The packaged Melvin isn't as good as the stuff brewed on the small system at TMU though.

Got to tour the brew houses and talk to the brewers as well and pretty crazy to hear the differences in everything from yeast, to water, to ferm temps, and dry hoppy regimens.

the mouthfeel from hazy beverage, is so freaking good!

Non IPA, but the Peak Organic Super Fresh is a pilsner hop bomb. Destroyed my palate as the following Lagunitas ale and the new 'Call it a day' dbl IPA from Moat tasted like water.

Two new ones from last night:

Lagunitas Born Yesterday (fresh hop). Super dank nose, lots of grapefruit. 7%. They call it a pale but it seemed closer to an IPA. Awesome.
ODD13 Papa Silenus v2.0. 8.5%. Juicy NE IIPA. Tasty (if you like this style) but not as fruity/tropical as their last IIPA (Robot Librarian).

Had Weldwerks (Greeley) Juicy Bits IPA this weekend. Another 'New England' style, hazy IPA. Fucking delicious. They had a double dry hopped version that was amazing too.

Also had a Consolation Prize from Lord Hobo in MA. Heavy at 9.5 but pretty good.

ColMan - had some of that Papa this weekend. Actually having last one now. I like it. Totally different than when they first made it a few years ago, but delicious, IMO.

Also had some Pipeworks (Chicago) Lizard King. It's technically a pale I think. Mosaic. Pretty fucking tasty.

Haven't grabbed this one yet but looking forward to the second release of Stainless Forest this week. Hoping they stayed with the original recipe, it was a winner that sold out fairly quickly.
