I'm not sure what the plan is other than the game Saturday. We'll hike something for sure.

Staying in Louisville so that brewery looks like it will happen. Thanks for the tip.

Buy some Casey if you like Farmhouse styles
These visits will be more fun when he's 21, but that will happen fast enough so no rush. I'm told his housemates and he know how to tailgate. Get some 30's.....

At Backcountry Pizza, they have a limited selection because they're trying to kick their kegs for an event they need 55 taps for.

Went with Melvin IPA. Liking it

VT hopheads: get your mitts on some 14th star "Batch #72". 8% DIPA. It's draft only and Better than Tribute. Best beer I've had in a while.

FYI There's a fresh hop festival in Denver this weekend. Used to be at the Falling Rock but out grew that so it is up on Champa. Check it out if you have the chance!

Doubt it will happen in the near term based on their size but if they ever started canning this (or Pieces of 8) and could keep up with production they would be the next "line out the door" brewery. Amazing how many new breweries continue to open and offer an amazing variety of fantastic beers. Good Measure, Ten Bends, Goodwater, Hogback, Foam among others have all opened in the last year and have all seemed to find an enthusiastic audience. Ipa's get most of the attention (rightfully so) but there are so many other styles that are available, many of which are true gems (Foley Maple Brown and Lost Nation Wind come to mind) that many don't pay attention to.

MPPG - Batch #72 is definitely worth finding and I was told recently by someone in the biz, most likely in line for canning in the future.

Wooden Rabbit, bourbon barrel aged IPA. So good, they only made 12 gallons.

I drank a shitload of great IPA's in Portland last weekend.

    Some highlights:
Great Notion Brewing's Juice Box, Juice Jr., and Orange Creamsicle IPA were all fantastic
    Fat Head's SemperFiPA
Breakside Brewing Fresh Hop Simcoe and Back to the Future IPA
    Firestone Walker Luponic Distortion

I need to go back through my notes to see what else I tried, but those were ones that stood out from memory. I was hugely impressed with Great Notion all around as a brewery, they also had some great sours and fruit beers in their lineup.

Yes, I believe so, the bartender at Podnah's Pit wasn't able to tell me much about it besides the fact that it was a rotating Firestone IPA. The tap handle said Luponic Distortion and "piney tonic" would describe the flavor well. It was remarkably refreshing with a pulled pork sandwich.

In all I managed to hit a fresh hop beer festival and the following breweries while I was in PDX.

    Commons
    Upright
    Burnside
    Breakside
    Cascade
    Hopworks/HUB
    FatHeads
    Great Notion
And while not breweries, Stammtisch and its clone Prost have big selections of German beers, some of which are very hard to find in the states.

Luponic Distortion is awesome IMHO. However number 002 is old. Canned in July. 003 is out already and is just as good. I don't get too much pine in 003

Should be luponic #3 by now! According to the "drink within 90 days" on the can, #2 should be out of that realm. Ended up with a case of the #3 last week. So good

Then I would guess it was #3, I don't think kegs of IPA sit for too long at such a high traffic restaurant. Regardless, it was delicious, and definitely tasted fresh.

I am polishing off a can of #2 canned on 6/24, haven't seen #3 yet here in VT, at least that I've noticed.
