Seattle locals, heading to the "west side" tomorrow, was planning on catching the Rogue Elements late show, but it's apparently sold out.

Where should I go to explore some tasty IPA's instead? Will be staying near Gas Works, so Fremont is an option, but any suggestions welcome.

That's excellent news. I would buy more of their stuff if it was canned.

I've been digging the Super Session #8 from Lawson's. Great taste for a low ABV.

Fremont is good. I'd also suggest Reuben's and Stoup in Ballard.

Brouwer's is also good if a little pricey, but they've got good food an incredible beer selection. Brouwer's is a restaurant, not a brewery.

No doubt. I always have some in my fridge and drop by the brewery whenever I'm out that way but cans will be a welcome add. I am all for variety but they may have gone overboard with so many variations, Lush, hush, plush, blush, experimental series (which is $) and at least a dozen+ others.

Drank a 6er of #8 this weekend, perfect beer for 90° days outside. To steal a quote from MNIAW, "we are living in the Golden Age of craft beer." If you can get your hands on some Single Cut 18 Watt, it's another great session. A bit on the pricey side and 6% if I remember correctly but one of the better sessions I can recall having lately.

Is that what every touron asks for in any beer bar on the West coast these days?

Not so much anymore, but due to RR's limited distribution policy Seattle was one of the few markets in the state, so Pliny was over represented. Some say overrated too

I just had my first one last weekend. Overrated IMHO. A good representation of the style and probably one of the best 10 years ago.

I didn't realize you could get Pliny up there. Shit, you can't even get Pliny down the street in Santa Cruz.

I think Pliny and Heady were ahead of their time and therefore looked at like the holy grail of IPA's. Now that others have caught up and surpassed, some feel they're overrated. Neither one are my favorite these days, but put into a timeline they were (and still are I suppose) two of the best beers out there.

The makings of a fine start to the weekend. Frost's initial can release today and a big thanks to MNIAW and mrs for the delivery from down south.

Word from the brewery is that some cans will go out to their distributor next week for deliveries to retail spots but no indication as to how far south they will make it.

Another 2xipa. They change the recipe often but several of the previous versions have been excellent.

Then there's SKA's Bad Hop Contract DIPA & lots of acronyms:

The new video features CEO Dave Thibodeau and Sales Manager Arlo Grammatica chatting by a water cooler about Ska’s new year-round beer, which they made into an acronym (of course!). The new beer’s full name is Bad Hop Contract DIPA, but you’ll see it as “BHC DIPA” in stores and at the brewery.
(DOWNLOAD: Great American Beer Festival Bingo Card)
How did the beer get its name?
“Just a few years ago there was a hop shortage and prices skyrocketed, and as is our M.O., we signed a bunch of bad hop contracts–maybe our next beer can use up some excess CTZ’s!” Thibodeau says in a news release.
    Ska Video Beer Acronym Key

    • BHC DIPA – Bad Hop Contract Double India Pale Ale
    • ATF – Alcohol, Fire & Tobacco
    • TTB – Alcohol, Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau
    • GABF – The Great American Beer Festival
    • EPA – English Pale Ale
    • APA – American Pale Ale
    • IPA – India Pale Ale
    • DIPA – Double India Pale Ale
    • NE IPA – New England Style IPA
    • CTZs – CTZ stands for three similar high alpha bittering hop varieties: Columbus, Tomahawk and Zeus.
    • POS – Point of Sale
    • IBUs – International Bitterness Units
    • ABV – Alcohol By Volume
    • SRM – Standard Reference Method (the measurement scale of beer color)
    • N.W.A – The hip-hop group Dr. Dre, Ice Cube and Eazy-E
    • AARP – American Association of Retired Persons

Nah dude, it's like Repo Man style. RIP, Harry Dean Stanton.
I love the Frost can's, they look great. My local store has been supporting them from very early on. I'm hoping to see them there.

As long as they keep putting awesome in those "boring" cans I wouldn't care if they wrote their name in crayon. I think too much is put on the can and not in the can, example - Clown Shoes great art meh beer.
