Dear Photographer:
Hi!
National Geographic Adventure Magazine requests...
Adventure is working on a story for the December/January issue about outdoor adventure activities around the United States.
We need recent/timeless stock photos (with a sense of place, showing people having fun outdoors) of the following destinations and activities:
East
NEW YORK/Base lodge with multisport
Adirondack Rock and River lodge in Keen Valley in the Adirondacks, makes an excellent base for exploring by snowshoe and ski the high peaks region. Very private and they even have a climbing wall on the backside of a giant river-rock fireplace.
NEW HAMPSHIRE/Mountaineering
The Presi Traverse – scaling the high peaks of the Presidential Range in winter – poses an immense challenge, mostly due to the likelihood of extreme weather conditions.
FLORIDA/Sea Kayak
Kayak across Apalachicola Bay to St. Vincent Island in northwest Florida. Camp at the beautiful and wild Gap Point.
Central
KENTUCKY/Caving
Carter Caves Crawlathon takes place late in January, the premier cavers confab in the Midwest
spelunk the 20 or so caverns in Carter Caves State Park in the company of dedicated cavers.
Rockies
IDAHO/Skiing
Long after the last powder has been skied off of Idaho’s Schweitzer Mountain Resort, freshies can still be found “under the rope,” untracked terrain ranging from gentle slopes to steep ‘n’ deep.
ARIZONA/Mountain Bike
Sierra Vista, in southernmost Arizona, is developing a rep for top-notch mountain biking, and winter brings perfect conditions for riding these desert routes. Try the Kentucky Camp-Keyhole route, a 38-mile fest.
West
CALIFORNIA/Ski Camp
in and out-of-bounds terrain at Sugar Bowl in the Lake Tahoe area
Please feel free to recommend people you know who may have pictures as well.
