Heal quick there buddy. If you want I'll call Kent to see about who he and Skogen went to for some super-speedy, super-new-age rehab thingy. Kent was claiming to me that this guy doing his rehab can get you back in 245% quicker time.

...there probably some info in his interviews and articles too.

Sorry to hear that Shoe....Positive vibes coming your way.....you''ll be back before you know it.

[Cue twilight zone theme] I remember Buzzworthy's warning- those who organize a Summit sit out the next season. Rusty Nails, Buzzworthy, and now Shoe. Here's some preemptive positive vibes for TGR and Frz for the Jackson Summit!

i'm speechless, really. I don't what to say, except i am sorry. As AC said, you will learn from this, you will come back stronger. some of the healthiest people out there are those who have had to come back from a serious injury or illness.

    Good luck.

So I guess we won't see your extremo backcountry skills in the Kirkwood terrain park anytime soon. Even after you went blowing your own horn to the powdermag editors. What a letdown.

    Heal fast my man.

Listen to this man!!!!!! Don't think, just do. Trust me...

I'm sooooo sorry to hear about this though. The bad soccer mojo has taken one of if not the best from us. But alas it is only temporary. Heal up quick, sir. We can't wait to have you back!

PMA, man PMA. Positive mental attitude. It really helps alot. Push as hard as you can, get it as strong as possible and work that ROM even though it hurts like a bitch. Best of luck and keep your head up. It really does make a difference. On a plus note, if you can figure out how to dance on crutches, girls really dig it. Just watch out for the slick tile floors....

well, the man is named hardrider for a reason

md9 -- yeah its soccer the injury and yeah the Bro's...thebro'sthebro'sthebro'sthebro's.....

funken -- yeah maybe, this doc actually said that its pretty common to tear the meniscus with an ACL injury though. whatever. it's done.

alka -- tried sending you a pm about KK & Skogen's therapy, but your box if full. If you can find anything out about the techniques they used I'd sure appreciate it.

everyone else -- thanks for the vibes...they really mean a lot.

This news really floored me. I'm amazed at how pain free I am right now considering what's disconnected, torn, and what not right now in my knee. I've been punishing myself on the bike lately....I took numerous mtb spills with the injury a few weeks back....I'm playing goalie now for my soccer team (only 1 goal scored against in 3 games ) since I didn't want to 'play it safe' and not play on the field. The swelling is nealy gone. I'm just pretty floored. And I'm pissed. Very fucking pissed....but that's ok. I can be angry guy for awhile. If that's gonna be my fuel to get through this then so be it. Fuck this knee.

Unfortunately what to do next just isn't that clear to me know. Doc says that if I weren't that aggressive a skier he'd say I can ski on it know. He asked if I would be able to mentally hold myself back if I were to not get surgery and ski on it. He asked if I wanted to put myself in a no-fall situation and have my knee give out while making a critical turn. I don't know what the hell I'm gonna do.

    Ty,
I'd go for the surgery. If you were just some joey you could ski and live fine with out an acl. I know an ortopod who used to cut first and ask questions later (excellent surgeon BTW). A few years ago he went to a conference and came back with a new philosophy. He told me most people don't need an acl. However, for athletes, for skiers like you who will always push it hard; yes an acl is a very good thing indeed. Keep the positive attitude, rehab, rehab and rehab and you will be fine. Since you have been through a shoulder rehab you will find knees much better. ROM comes back sooner, it is a much simpler joint. Be strong. Vibes sent your way.

Tres bummoir dood. Exactly what I did at Kookwood 3 + years ago. Mine never hurt either.

Acknowledge your anger, have a rager, then get set to fix it. Find the best surgeon you can. Spring turns are possible.

    Damnit.

Im so sorry to hear this man.

Watch High Life and see what Will Burkes is doing without an ACL or go back and watch some of Evan Dybvigs runs in the '98 Olympics, sans ACL. Eventually its gonna need fixed but who says you cant get a month or two out of it before they surgurize you.

Sorry to hear that dude. Sounds like you're the kinda guy who'll work real hard and be ripping again in no time.

I would try and track down the guy KK is working with, he seemed to be coming along pretty well when he came in the shop this summer

Turn the negative into a positive. Relax. Enjoy the chance to train your body hard. Smile, Laugh! You get to take some good, strong drugs.

You are lucky, for you have tasted the nectar of pow, and this will strengthen your intention to heal.

You WILL be back, better than before.

That does suck. My words of wisdom are to take it easy, rehab strong, stretch a lot - make sure you get range of motion back, and don't overdo it. If you rehab well, you'll be 100%. If you damage it further by doing too much, it could suck a lot more in the long term. I'll see you next week, right?
