I quit 18 years ago. Didn't really bother me when I quit.

But getting over my "Frosted Poptarts" addiction was another story

Whenever I go on a forced (ie. can't find any) sabbatical I get the most vivid/weird dreams. Strange...

Hey guys, remember when Samwich took a stand against pot? He got ripped on pretty hard for that little position.

    Ah, the good old days.

I don't know what pisses me off more: My Yuppie Scum friends who express disgust when I admit to smoking up now and then, or those who judge me for not smoking all the time.

Hey, whatever works for you. (And don't judge those who don't agree with it.)

As of right now, I'm no longer qualified to talk about herb withdrawl. As Eldo said, to each their own. That being said, the young punks who almost advertise weed and go out of their way to act the burn out part piss me off. When I was a young buck, the goal was too do as many drugs as possible and get away with it. Kids these days make no effort to hide the fact that they are completely medicated. Get high not stoned.

    whoa, dudes, chill

I did 60 days in preperation for a drug test last winter. Skiing sucked, sex was boring (well, not really), but my apartment was cleaner and my bills were paid on time. And I had those vivid dreams somebody mentioned.

Ditto on the bills paid on time and the vivid dreams. That and I don't panic every time I roll up to a traffic check and have to quickly roll down the window to vent the truck and make sure my sack isn't sitting on the passenger seat. Those pesky court appearances for simple possession were getting a bit old.

I quit a little over 3 years ago. Basically went from chronic 10+ doobers a day to zero. The old system went into shock for sure. The first 6 weeks or so were hell. Everytime I laid down and started to fall asleep I would get woken up by sweat rolling off my body. I had to keep beach towels beside the bed and I'd just throw a fresh one under myself 2-4 times a night, and flip the quilt over. Unbelievable how much I sweated.

I'm not anti-dope by any means. I just knew somehow that it was time to quit for a bit. Initially I said 1 year but after all the crap I went through and my addictive nature, (understatement) I decided to extend my hiatus.

I used to say that I couldn't imagine skiing without it but in reality I still rip and have fun, lots of fun. And my bank account stays on the plus side most of the time instead of being constantly in the red. At times I would spend a grand a month on herb. YIKES!!! That buys a lot of other things now.

The crowd I hang with now has changed a lot. I discovered that a lot of my "buddies" were just smoking pals. After I quit smoking, we really did not have that much in common. Some of the true pals just felt plain uncomfortable I think and others figured that I would be offended or something if they smoked in front of me. I really don't give a damn if people smoke in front of me. To each his own.

Do I miss it sometimes? You bet. Perhaps one day I'll take it up on a more social level again as opposed to "wake and bake" 24/7. But for now, I'm happy to be stopped.

Good on ya for trying. It takes balls to quit anything that is a "habit." The next vice I will tackle will be cigarettes. Nasty, nasty habit.

I quit a year ago, and haven't really missed it in my life - I am sure that I'll partake every now and again, but I had to prove it to myself for my children that I could do it. Life has many changes...

Vaporization is a technique for avoiding irritating respiratory toxins in marijuana smoke by heating cannabis to a temperature where the psychoactive ingredients evaporate without causing combustion.

Like tobacco, marijuana smoke contains toxins that are known to be hazardous to the respiratory system. Among them are the highly carcinogenic polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons, a prime suspect in cigarette-related cancers. These toxins are essentially a byproduct of combustion, separate from the pharmaceutically active components of marijuana, known as cannabinoids, which include THC. Although there is no proof that marijuana smoking causes cancer, chronic pot smokers have been shown to suffer an elevated risk of bronchitis and respiratory infections. Respiratory disease due to smoking may therefore rightly be regarded as the primary physiological hazard of marijuana.

Cannabis vaporizers are designed to let users inhale active cannabinoids while avoiding harmful smoke toxins. They do so by heating cannabis to a temperature of 180 - 200° C (356° - 392° F), just below the point of combustion where smoke is produced. At this point, THC and other medically active cannabinoids are emitted with little or none of the carcinogenic tars and noxious gases found in smoke. Many medical marijuana patients who find smoked marijuana highly irritating report effective relief inhaling through vaporizers. Users who are concerned about the respiratory hazards of smoking are strongly advised to use vaporizers. Alternative devices, such as waterpipes, have been shown to be ineffective at reducing the tars in marijuana smoke

The idea behind a vaporizer is that it will heat up the THC to a vapor temperature, without causing it to burn, thus no cancer causing smoke. A good vaporizer knows the exact temperature to do this, as science has discovered.

I imagine you can find tons of info on the internet, and I am sure they are for sale over the internet. Amsterdam has been selling them for years, so it is not new technology.

And, it is smokeless. That's the whole idea.

Don't take my word for it, do some searching around and find out about it. Knowledge is power.

Note: as I posted this, I saw the post above mine.
So, I add, "yeah, what he said."
That was a much more detailed explanation.

I don't smoke much any more but I have a number of friends that have never given it up. Some of them went to butter for the lungs which is smart, but to be quite honest, I have great confidence that they should never stop. It works for them.
