TR Foot of the Sisters, September 14, 2004

I'm happy to report that I'm skiing deep into the "post-season".
On Monday I rode my mountain bike up to the top of chair 2 at Kirkwood. From there I could see a skiable patch of snow at the foot of The Sisters. Doug and I hiked there the next day. It was about 2 and 1/2 miles in. We passed Round Top Lake on the way to the patch. When we arrived the patch was still in the shade. It was frozen suncups. We waited about half an hour for the sun to soften the hard surface a bit.

Here is a picture of me skiing down:

Caples Lake can be seen in the distance.

It felt great to still be skiing in September. Maybe I'll get another September day in before I search for October turns.

While your search for turns smacks of desperation, it is pretty damn cool. Keep it going!

It gave only temporary relief to the jones. However, it appears to be coming back one day later. I'm sure that I'll need another fix in a couple of weeks. Yes it was fun.

skier666, Sierra Cement, and Greydon Clark,

    Thank you!

Excellent Vets, nice job. It's crazy to think that we'll be tearing Kirkwood up in about 2 months and even more crazy to think that the season will be here and gone b/4 we know it...Enjoy

Thanks. When I was up at Kirkwood on Monday it felt like the mountain wanted to pull in snow. The wind was howling at the top of chair 2. Soon.
