I can't believe the way those cabs drive that that not one of them got taken out. I really thought I was going to see some blood there.

Cool video. I remember hearing that there are more pedestrians hit by bicycles per year in NYC than hit by cars. This would explain it.

Anyway, here's another classic NYC cycling video:

Its not the messengers you have to worry about. It's the chinese delivery doods.

Yeah it's true. Poor sucker got killed a year ago walking out of a restaraunt and got clocked by a delivery guy on the sidewalk. Those guys are literally right off the boat and have a serious debt to pay off, or their sister is walking the streets of Shanghai.

The "messangers" in the video are seriously crazy and hard core. Friggin single speed under one of them, probably no brakes. But the dudes on speed skates can give them a run for the money in that category. Now that's nuts.

All fun and games until someone gets killed... seriously, those guys are freakin morons, skill or not. Right up there with street racing.

    That was Freaking AWESOME!!!

I love that stuff! I just watched the video five times in a row, and I'm bouncing off the walls right now. I miss city biking.

just got back from a ride, hell I'm going out for another one now. I think I'll try and shoulder a few trees while I'm out there, just for old times sake.

Two points: bike messengers are morons. You see them on an almost regular basis lying in the street after being hit (or hitting) cars, and I almost always assume that it was their fault. Sometimes when I see them flying through pedestrians like that I take a shot at 'em if I'm close enough, knock their asses down. Dumb as shit. Always makes me wish I had something to stick through their spokes.

But: just like with tree skiing, riding through traffic like that seems much less dangerous when you're doing it. The wide angle helmet-cam makes it look worse than it is. I've probably only ridden a bicycle here once, but I regularly skate through traffic (not through crosswalks like that, though) and people think it's crazy, but I definitely feel pretty comfortable doing it. And yeah, sometimes it's sort of fun--almost like a video game.

I was reading some old posts, and I saw this. Dude, you should watch yourself, not sure what city you're in, but if I saw you take a swipe at a messenger or at me, I would fuck your shit up, and I know that most other messengers/ex-messengers would too. Ever been clocked in the head with a U-lock?
Seriously, try doing it for a week, and then tell me that the messengers are the morons. At least in Boston, pedestrians are the biggest assholes ever, they don't even get that walk means walk, and don't walk means keep your ass put.
Oh, and when you say skate, you probably mean Rollerblade, huh?
