You'll like it Molson...
Smither's loss = AK's gain. We'll miss you Jake and Vessie, come back soon K.
But (and I'm sure you will) keep on rippin life in the meantime!

^^^Aww gee Gary, you make me blush! Smithers... October... be there or be square!
Building a Big Mountain Bike Park (TM) is hard work. Building a community, stoking the flame...
Making the most savage swamps ridable,
Bridging the gap between the known and unknown,
Deciphering the shades of grey
And rendering color out of the matrix.
All in all, shredding the high alpine terrain is fun!
This trail is one of three off the top of the mountain
Trail Crew hard at work
I think this riding is unique... outside Europe at least.
And you know, sometimes eating shit comes with the territory! This hurt!

I'm so stoked for Sunday I can hardly stand it. What you guys have done up there is almost unimaginable. One summer with a crew on that mountain and it sure seems like you've done something special. We'll find out for sure Sunday. Look forward to seeing you there.
The mountain is being prepared for Opening Day!
Look at these guys actually think they are getting on the tram!
It is true! Come on up!
Another great day above the fog.
Time to shred!
I deem thee trails ready for public consumption!

fuck, that looks like fun!
Oh my fucking god that was the most fun I've ever had without snow. I don't want to sound like a queer or nothing but you guys fucking rock. Those trails are Amazing I can't stop grinning even though my wife wants to leave me. I certainly hope the more than sellout crowd will bode well for tram ops next summer or even maybe more this fall that's a wicked tease.
I'm glad you had fun out there! It was a big relief to see 200 people in line by noon. Evidence enough to give me free license to build for the next few years and yes, we will be hitting the lift hard next summer.
You know I've smoked a lot of grass
O' Lord, I've popped a lot of pills
But I never touched nothin'
That my spirit could kill
You know, I've seen a lot of people walkin' 'round
With tombstones in their eyes
But the pusher don't care
Ah, if you live or if you die
God damn, The Pusher
God damn, I say The Pusher
I said God damn, God damn The Pusher man
You know the dealer, the dealer is a man
With the love grass in his hand
Oh but the pusher is a monster
Good God, he's not a natural man
The dealer for a nickel
Lord, will sell you lots of sweet dreams
Ah, but the pusher ruin your body
Lord, he'll leave your, he'll leave your mind to scream
God damn, The Pusher
God damn, God damn the Pusher
I said God damn, God, God damn The Pusher man
Well, now if I were the president of this land
You know, I'd declare total war on The Pusher man
I'd cut him if he stands, and I'd shoot him if he'd run
Yes I'd kill him with my Bible and my razor and my gun
God damn The Pusher
Gad damn The Pusher
I said God damn, God damn The Pusher man
Guilty as charged...
Well done sir, well done!
Here is a video compilation Thom Mace put together.

The bugs have finally been froze out for the season... I think? Pretty bad there for awhile.
No mosquitos, mean little flies that get in your nose and mouth and ears.
Colder weather has moved in, winter is on the way!

Are those wooden bridges and berms on blueberry pancake? they don't look familiar. I think I missed some trail. Guess I'll have to make it down and push again before they close uphill traffic.
Yeah, the wood berms were on Blue Berry and Big Spruce over on Chair 3.
I'd go for another push but my bike is tired. Bad bushings and wheel set and Boxxer blowout all add up to sloppy ride. There is always next year!
[QUOTE=carpathian;2859302](Sorry for all the offline images. The site I upload to has been on the fritz.)
So far America has been pretty good to me.
Within 48 hours of rolling into town I found this nice little chalet and bought it for $3000. The current owners want to build a new house on the foundation and basically were going to have to pay to demo the place until I came to the rescue. It is going to be a pain to move it but heck, it is a $3000 house.
You bought that from my uncle
And before that wasn't it Gary King's son's house?
Either way here it is now after several months of frantic work adding the second floor and all.
Just in time to hit the road!
Man, the sub arctic taiga forest can be dismal in early october. That is Sanford or Drum, don't remember.
Desolate, lonely mountains near Christochitina
Traveling south at this time of year is like going back in time, in regards to the seasons at least
Though it is not as warm as it looks here at Lake Kluane, despite the tropical colors
Out here you see about 1 car per hour
Vesna is thinking about going for a dip
Getting warmer in the heart of the Yukon.
By the time we hit the lower Cassiar there were more leaves still on the trees and the air was warm(er)
After 30 some odd hours of driving @ 80 mph we intersected Highway 16 and were soon in Smithers
Just in time to see what the Smithers crew has been up to all summer. Hitting more jumps then me, I suspect!

For you. Brian and Gabe on Paydirt

Ah the memories!
Glad to see you made it up. I always thought that trail was special then I saw your vid and it confirmed it. Too many jumps to count.
They got some new stuff in the works...
Waking up to another day in Smithers, BC.
Smithers is a special place tucked in the middle of nowhere
Life at the end of the rainbow
A place where chickens run free
and lettuce grows tall
Where hippies burn sage
and run chainsaw like nothin at all
You can see Paydirt down in there, about to hibernate for the season
The forest is fertile above
and below
As you can see, SnowWalker is excited about the snow.
Welcome back Jake! Can't wait to see you and Vessie and Rosie at Laurie's party at the end of the month.
I hate to tell ya Gman, but we are heading back north here next week.
Getting on the ferry in Rupert then 3 day cruise to Whittier then 20 minute drive to Girdwood. See what Alaska has to offer. Basically full time work, grandparents in immediate vicinity and... well... powder covered spines.
See if I can push some of these skis on the locals and go from there.
It has been a bittersweet stay here in Smithers but I have learned that it won't go anywhere like Alaska did not go anywhere while I was here in Smithers for 6 years.
Have a good season!
Aw, shit. Way too bad. Don't suppose you'll have time to stop in for lunch or dinner on the way through??
Well you know someone said once (and I'll butcher the quote no doubt) that life is either a thrilling adventure or nothing at all. So go get it man. Yep, you're right about the places staying there...
If I don't see you on the way through, all the best man! Give my love to Vessie, and I'll see you next time Jake.
ps, I'll keep a look out for you on the intraweb, keep on posting the great things that are your TR's and life documentary. It's a great read man!
Who says snowmobilers are dangerous in the backcountry?!!

Devish is looking decidely upscale in that picture normaly he dresses like a sheep herder from the hindu kush
You will be back cuz this place is a magnet for a certain focus group of freaks & wierdo's
hope you got the compound rented
later ,al
The snow is creeping down the hill as seen from my Smithers driveway. I know it is hard to believe but it is time to head north
I built this spiffy new gate to keep winos out until the new renter shows up
Vamanos!
It started to clear up on route to Prince Rupert
Welcome to Rupert. Getting on the ferry in the morning...
![]()
The route includes a day and a half in the inside passage up to Juneau and then almost 2 days crossing the open Gulf of Alaska with a quick stop in Yakutat:
Good bye Rupert Canada, see you again someday!
Lone light house
Welcome to Ketchikan!
The mountains start getting bigger in Juneau
6 hour layover in AK capital
On to the open ocean!
We went all night to Yakutat, Sunset over Icy Straight
The next morning
Rush hour
This is the first of many breaks as the beach stretches ^^^ for 400 miles back towards Juneau
Many hours later, slush on deck
Southern tip of Kayak Island; middle of nowhere
6am the next day. It is always shittier in Whittier, sleet.
It sure is good to be home! When it rains down low, it snows up high
Big League is looking sweet...
