    First snow in Tahoe...maybe soon

Flew up to Tahoe last night from San Jose to South Lake close to Kirkwood and here is my patch report:

No camera with me this time...

    1) Lookers right of Roundtop, the only decent sized patch

    2) Below California Chutes...small to medium sized patch.

But...I checked Snow forecast this morning and saw this:

First time snow showed in a long time.

How did the West Shore Glacier look?
The trumpet scatters its awful sound Over the graves of all lands Summoning all before the throne

West Shore as in facing the California Chutes?

...some minor patches in here but didn't do a direct fly-by.

or West Shore lookers left to Round top?

...too far away to tell but I would say its not a glacier anymore.

    Every September...........
I walk out in the morning and feel that difference.
The sun isn't burning down on me like the toast I just ate.
The briskness of the air is different.
And I know it won't be long.

....Yeah, the air was clean and crisp up near the lake last night. Went up there to grab Mrs. 666's pocket rockets and gear because we're off to New Zealand friday night for a week of skiing and a wedding.

Oh yeah, snow-forecast is calling for up to 100 cms in 6 days!!!!

    ...of course, I'll post pics.

    Didn't you just leave NZ?

    I fucking hate you.
I've concluded that DJSapp was never DJSapp, and Not DJSapp is also not DJSapp, so that means he's telling the truth now and he was lying before.

DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...WEDNESDAY THROUGH MONDAY

TEMPERATURES SHOULD BEGIN TO MODERATE BY WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY WITH
OVERNIGHT LOWS GENERALLY IN THE 30S. ISOLATED PATCHY FROST MAY STILL
DEVELOP EACH MORNING ACROSS THE DEEPER VALLEYS...OTHERWISE DRY
CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED THROUGH MOST OF THE WEEK. AN UPPER LEVEL LOW
PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL BRING ANOTHER SHOT OF COLDER AIR AND A THREAT
    FOR SHOWERS...AND HIGH-ELEVATION SNOW...BY THE WEEKEND.

Thanks for the snow update. Snowforecast is great. Are you a pilot? what do you do for a living? Asking cuz I think I need to find a new gig, one that supports multiple trips to NZ in a season...

    Nope, nope, and nope...

I work in property management for some apartment buildings in San Jose...As long as they are rented and no 30-day notices, all is cool.

My father has been a recreational pilot since I was a little kid, so I've grown up flying to Tahoe in very small planes. Ironically, my younger sister and brother also have their pilots license....but I'd rather listen to old Slayer in the back seat and sleep.

Trips to NZ, very close friends down there, met them by just being a skier. Very cheap for me to go because I have a free place to stay and usually get hooked up with lift tickets through my buddy's connections.

Generally, I go only once....but my friend is getting married and he was in my wedding here in the States.

    That should explain it...

Found this weather alert this morning (9/16). We may see some white up high by Sunday.....

WINDS WILL PICK UP AHEAD OF THE TROUGH ON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY WITH TEMPERATURES FALLING SIGNIFICANTLY SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. THE TROUGH COULD BRING SOME PRECIPITATION TO THE AREA AS EARLY AS FRIDAY NIGHT WITH MORE WIDESPREAD RAIN AND UPPER ELEVATION SNOW BY SATURDAY NIGHT....

Hmmmm... I wonder what it's like to drive a topless Jeep through a snowstorm...

Topless Jeep = fun. Topless girl in topless jeep = more fun.

Bring it on! I'll be the happiest kin on the playground when I wake up and see snow on the ground. Going on 17 months in a row of summer for me so far, I can't WAIT.

Hope that you get some fresh when you are there and that Tahoe provides some fresh when you return.
