    Bands fronted by bass players

Not that there's anything wrong with it...
    List, please.
I guess Morphine counts, although that seems like cheating.
    The Police
    Level 42
    Rush
    Night Ranger (HA, ha!)
The Outfield (even more HA, ha!)
The Beatles (on Paul's songs) and Wings

Hmmmm, can't think of more right now.
Dave Holland Quartet (no, jazz doesn't count, since any bass guy who goes out on his own would qualify)

Thing is, I don't think Kim Deal played bass in that band, so even though she's a 'bass player', The Breeders don't count.

    Um yea.

    The thread says FRONTMAN.

Flea takes more of the lead guitar place in the band I'd say. It all depends-- would you say Page or Plant fronted Zepplin?

Missplaced frontman? The best example of this I can think of is Nikki Sixx from Motley Crue. Vince Neal was the frontman singer guy, but Nikki was also VERY popular and kinda the leader and responsible for the direction of the band. Lars from Metallica- although not a bass player, he was/is still the leader of the band while not being the front.

OK. It just seems like flea's the man to me. He's the guy that got Anthony off smack. He provides a lot of the energy and the music, even if he isn't in 'front' of the band.

    R. Fripp sits on a stool in the dark sometimes and doesn't sing. Doesn't mean he's not the frontman of King Crimson.

I don't think of Anthony as the front man even though he's the lead singer. If anything, they both front the band, different from Led Zep or Cream.

    Peppers are kinda like AC/DC.

Does Brian Johnson front the band, or does Angus?

I got to add a ROCKIN band from Eugene who now is in P-tow.

    FLOATER

    as for the hi-jack (sorry)-

Ohhh man this is a good one.

A lot of bands are fuzzy...RHCP are totally one.. Axl or Slash--there is another. I think a lot of time I would have to give the tie to the guy singing...but not always, every band is different for every person and they all change, bands and people.

I could debate this with myself forever..I think it has no end

    The Police- Sting

    Phil Lesh and Friends

As far as Flea being a Frontman, tough call. I would say he and Anthony are pretty much equal. They both answer the questions in the interviews and they both are important to get the crowd fired up at shows, although Anthony is generally the one that says what the next song will be and talks between songs.
