    Great beginnings to songs

Out at a bar with a couple a friends. After 4 or ten beers, we get to arguing about great intros to songs. The bar we were at has a great juke box and we would argue, then listen to the nominated song. The songs didn't have to be the greatest, just have some sweet intro. riffs and whatnot.

We came up with these songs (in no particular order) -

    Sweet Emotion - Aerosmith
    Magic Man - Heart
    Immigrant Song - Led Zepplin
    Money - Pink Floyd
You Shook Me All Night Long - ACDC

And for a last 20 second closer, we picked

For those about to rock... ACDC - the cannons and Angus riffing along is hard to beat.

Any others that come to mind? I am sure there are a gagillion and work is a bit slow today.
Charlie, here comes the deuce. And when you speak of me, speak well.

Wow - we didn't even think of the Stones.

And for that matter - Voodoo Child - Jimi Hendrix

That a pretty signature riff if there every was one.

One most of you won't know, but came to mind for me: "Texture" the song that leads off Catherine Wheel's Ferment album. Just a good, incendiary guitar intro. It sets the tone for the entire CD to follow.

One that everyone will know: "Baba O'Riley" by The Who.

    The answer is:

    Guns'n'Roses - Sweet Child O' Mine.

Sick and ashamed and happy (and not one bit ashamed to rock out to the above),

    Steve Miller Band "Space Cowboy"

Not two of my faves but two good intros.

    Megadeth - Symphony of Destruction

I really don't like metal and it really isn't a long opening, but when I heard it for the first time I knew my radio should be louder.

Layla - Derek and the Dominoes version
Killing in the Name of - RATM
Give it Away - Red Hot Chili Pepers
I Know, Huh? - The Vandals (just because who expects pokla from a punk band)

edited to include other noteables IMHO....
