What to do with parents in SLC?

My parents are coming into town for a few days. They're actually flying into Denver, I'm meeting them in Moab for a couple days, where we'll see Arches and Deadhorse Point and all that, and then we're coming back up to SLC. I've already taken them up the tram at Snowbird last year, and I think we took them to PC last year to walk around/eat. I asked if they wanted to walk around downtown and see the temple and got a religious lecture about how we should live somewhere else because the Mormons are going to convert us or something... So that's out.

    Anything?

Take em out to the smelly Salt Air, or maybe Antelope Island that ota kill a few hours.

you can always take them to your name sake mountain?

Downtown Gateway shopping? check out the fountain then the OLY Cauldron at the U?

come to think about it, SLC is so sad, that the Gateway, and the Temple are the only things to see around here

Well at least Brewvies is super cool.

Yeah right. Riding up the tram to take a look around in summer was an adventure in their book.

I know people do actually go to look at the lake, but it smells bad enough just driving by when you head out on I-80. Though I guess if I want to make drinking and watching football at a brew-pub sound appealing to my Mom, I can put it up against going to the stinky-ass lake as her other option...

And while I'm not sure that it's really of much interest to them, we can always take a drive up the canyon to look at the new lift going in...

Oh, and Mr.AG just called and said the State Fair is going on this weekend.

Alpine loop; that area is beautiful this time of year. You could also hit Timp cave on the way.

    Octoberfest at the bird

Don't know exactly when it is (this weekend maybe) but the brewers festival is coming up.

Fine Arts Museum at the U.

    Red Butte Gardens

How about a historic building tour of downtown SLC? You can download a map from www.slcgov.com

    Do your parents golf?

    Alpine Slide? Zip line?

    Horseback riding

    Sat morning farmers market

U of U football game (depending on date)

How about an evening walk up City Creek Canyon?

Also a fun loop is up BCC over to Park City or Heber on Guardsman's Pass.
    leaves are coming on

Heber Creeper is fun this time of year too,

    http://www.hebervalleyrr.org/photos/...location06.jpg schedule

Antelope Island is nice, especially now that it is not so hot, Bufffalo, hiking, hugefakkin lake

not sure where they are from but planetarium/IMAX is cool if ya dont have one where you are from....

Also, check out the dining specials going all over down town right now.

Red Butte Gardens by the U has great Gardens & arboretum as well as great lighter lower altitude hiking.

you can roll by the main Visitor center @ Salt Palace Convention Center
    90 South West Temple
    for more info & ideas,

while you are there you can visit the grumpy bald man that works up stairs & hates Salt lake so much.

He can tell you what you could be doing in Denver instead, that mecca of tourism.

Actually, when I had a weekend out there a few summers ago, I did a hike on Atelope Island (did I get it right?) and thought it was quite interesting...

I've solved the problem. The gun show is in Sandy Saturday / Sunday. I have been needing weapons for quite some time and Saturday is going to be it. With the ban lifted as of tonight, I'm going to get something really cool!!!!

Sunday, machine-gun madness in the Utah West Desert with the bible toting in-laws!! Natty light (in the can of course), wife beater t-shirt, some chew (I hope I don't throw-up), and guns; Can I get a FKNA?!?!?!

    Man I'm amped!

    I love this guy

    that made my day

Seriously, though I'll get over the 'SLC hatin' as soon as it snows, and Sandy City puts in a bar down the street from my house.

Alta Girl what about the Kennecot Mine? that place is huge and deep. I think it's like five bucks a car load

I took the family to the fair on Saturday night as well. I'll agree there were quite a few white trash/freaks, but there were a lot of hot chicks with boobs hanging out all over the place.

Fair rides always scare the shit out of me. The people putting them together always appear to be one step above homeless. The boy and I rode about 8 different rides, I was waiting for every one of them to fall apart.

They did have some pretty cool photos in the photography display/contest. Although, there was a definite lack of snow pictures. I may enter something next year, if I'm here.
