    DC mags - Schaeffer Sunday @ 5

Anybody (snow_slider, CantDog?) wants to ride up at Schaeffer on Sunday, I'm meeting up w/ The General (lurker/occasional poster on here) at 5.

    That'd be PM.

D@mn, I can't make it. I have two parties to go to this Sunday. Definitely keep me in mind for future rides though.

I'd love to meet you guys and I definitely need to get back on the dirt. With all this road riding I've been doing, it's taking every ounce of self control I have to resist the urge to shave my legs and wear a silly colored jersey with some team name on it that I can't even pronounce.

Well, turned out to be a very nice ride, weather was great, sun going down made for some cool lighting as it filtered into the woods across some of the fields.

Met up with The General (stop lurking, dammit, show yourself!) and the usual hordes of others out at Schaefer.

Amongst the interesting notes - encountered a groundhog on the trail through a field, where the 1-foot wide trail was surrounded by 3-4 foot high grasses. I stopped about 5 feet from the little guy, and he just sorta continued on his way, very leisurely, with me right behind him. This went on for probably 50 yds! He even walked over the bridge before eventually going off into the grasses.

Also met/passed a guy and two girls out there several times, the guy was all geared up on his FS bike, while his female companions had new rigid cruiser-type bikes and no helmets They indicated at one point that this was their first time out. This isn't the North Shore, but, um, yeah, no helmets = bad idea.

And finally, in my capacity as a "tour guide" for this run, I took one fork and after about 2 minutes, I realized I had no idea where this trail went, and had definitely never ridden it before. Pretty cool, though, a good bit of it was literally through a cornfield (with corn).

I might be up for an evening ride this week. I've been itching to get back on the dirt. I have an extra set of bar lights if anyone wants to ride late.

Glad to hear that you like the AC Air! Here's a link to the 2002 Rock Shox User Manual:
    http://www.sram.com/_media/pdf/rocks...sManual_en.pdf

That should help give you a benchmark for the air pressure settings.

I could do something around 7 or so. Mind if I get a group together for the ride?

Who else is in for this ride?

On a different note, there's a listserv called Bikefolk. It's a great way to reach a BUNCH of local folks for rides. They're folks on the listserv who ride everything from urban to DH.

To post to the list, send your email to:

Big E, thanks for showing me around the farms! I had a blast and I will definately be trying to get back there in the near future. If you would like to do a weekend ride again, I'll need a bit of advance notice. Eh, I could still probably work out a last minute ride, I'd like to meet up again.

Reston.......arrggghhh..... still need to get my tail down there! I think this week is out already, but I'm going to make it down there one afternoon next week (possibly tues, wed or thurs). So, if anyone wants to meet up, let me know. Snow_Slider, you game? I know I have been trying to ride with you for a while now. It wouldn't be hard for me to be talked into brining some after ride refreshments.

Thanks again Big E, I had a fun ride!

General - I'd be down for ride Wednesday of next week.

myles - let me talk things over with my boss (errr wife) and see what day she'll let me out to play. I'm thinking Wednesday might work. You have dibbs on the lights. I'll charge them up tonight.
