    E-bayers rape you on shipping.

I just bought a personal Mp3 player on e-bay, and it weighs less then a lb. (closer to a few ounces prolly) I don't get USPO home delivery, which we all learned during the binding debacle I went through last year. I already paid 17 DOLLARS for shipping on this little thing. I told the seller to ship either using UPS or FedEx. The bastard comes back at me through e-mail saying send him another 5 dollars paypal and he can do it. I then respond, "I can send 20 lb. skis across the country for 20 dollars", about what he's asking for this tiny Mp3 player. I told him, "send the Mp3 player now, or get bad e-bay feedback."

I'm tired of these fuckers ripping me off on shipping, he lives in California, I live in Colorado. Am I wrong? Not like I asked for express or anything.

I had some dipshit send me something with the actual retail price as the claimed price. The government wanted like over $150 in tax at which I didn't accept the product and the guy couldn't understand what the problem was after I had told him how to ship it and what to state on the shipping form.

Get used to it. Ebay sellers Half of them are honest and the other half make more of their money on the shipping than they do the product. I always look at the shipping before bidding. I kinda factor that in as the overall damage before bidding.

    No man, you're not wrong...

Speaking from some solid international ebaying, you HAVE GOT TO look at the sellers shipping and payment policies. I regularly buy videogames from Hong Kong and Japan. Records from the UK and all over Europe. Case in point, I usually buy vinyl from a shop in England and they ship it regular Air Mail for like $8 and sometimes I get them in a couple of days...UK to California!! However, I'll get records shipped from New York UPS ground and it'll take a week and a half and cost the same.

I bought some race-stock bindings a year ago and the dude wanted to charge me $40 bucks from Utah to CA....I'd email the guy first and let him know that you will leave negative feedback but I wouldn't get on any bad sides on Ebay....just eat this one and learn from your mistakes, I know I did. Get to know your sellers and try to refrain from buying from wierd sellers. I've ranted enough, forgive me my internet friend.

Well the fucker has a 100% rating, he can either eat this one or learn to put a reserve on his shit. 17 dollars for a 2 ounce item is still profiteering on shipping. Fuck 'em. Can't believe he had the odacity (sp?) to ask for more money.

Yeah but your boyfriend said you enjoyed the bucket over your head so that he could jump on and hold onto the handle.
Avoid employing unlucky people - throw half of the pile of resume's in the bin without reading them.

A lot of the things you post are funny.

However, this isn't one of them.

    Thanks for playing, try again.

    Always.

It's further if you go counter clockwise though.

I know I live in the Uk and all but I just bought a Dell Jukebox from a guy in the US who tried to charge me $71.00 for shipping!!!

I managed to beat him down to $33 in the end which is more what I would expect. Where did the other $38 come from? Git!

Yeah, wildly inflated shipping seems to be the new e-bay business model. On the other hand, a friend of mine bought a wiring harness for his Explorer and paid $5 for shipping from China.

Ebay sellers aren't the only ones playing ripoff games on shipping.

REI charge international shipping based on purchase value, not weight; when I payed more for a lighter-weight jacket I paid extra to ship it (uninsured) even though it weighs nothing.

Backcountystore's international shipping charge was almost double the amount on the stamp on the package. Worse still, they don't know their customs codes which meant that the jacket I bought for $150 (plus shipping) cost me an extra $100 in UK import duty (when it should have cost $30). Nice.

Just shop locally! If you can't find what you need in the local stores at the price you want to pay I'd say to maybe ask around here and have someone get it from their local shop and then send it to you. I'm just getting tired of Ebay being everybodys favored place to shop.

There is a rant building here so I'll quit now...

Ebayer's shipping policies are almost always listed on the auction page. Email them for a specific shipping quote before you bid. Don't like the answer (or don't get an answer,) then don't bid.

$17 is way high unless you requested overnight. I just sold my Rock Shox, shipped to AL from Co and it was $10 and change. It was 5lbs and much larger box than an MP3 would arrive in.

Always look at the shipping details. I've been using the option where the buyer can calculate the shipping based on their zip and the weight. It ends up being very close. Off by less than a dollar in the buyers favor this time. I'll eat that cost because it's easier than trying to go through the e-mails back and forth for a $1.

    Good Luck

thank you - glad someone said it. Not sure if people realize how much waste/resources going into shipping items. Not to say that ebay isn't appropriate for certain things, and I know there are items you may not be able to find locally, but this whole mail order/ebay trend is, imho, taking away from keeping your money in your community. just my 2 cents, not trying to set off a shit storm. (and yes, I have bought on ebay before, but frankly haven't found it to be that worth it)

I have a guy in the bay Area claiming that it will cost $50 to ship me a road bike frame. I don't think so.

A month ago, UPS lost another frame that I was having shipped from Denver. It got as far as SLC, but, apparently, was never scanned out. Right now, UPS security is investigating, whatever that means. I'm reluctant to file a claim because that frame is rare- I'll never find another one is such good shape.

Yeah. The rip happens on multiple levels. Big companies that ship lots of stuff can negotiate great shipping prices on things. However, if you just waltz into a UPS store, they're going to flay you alive. There have been times that I've sold stuff and I've eaten half the shipping cost for a whatever and STILL had buyers grousing about the shipping price. I guess the moral of the story is to buy UPS stock and shop (and sell!) locally.

FedEx ground is easily the cheapest for packages >1lb - as far as EBAY shipping, I make sure I get an exact quote before I bid, then factor that into the total cost.
