    Comfort Here

Hey. I have been a lurker for awhile and this is my first post. I recently graduated from college in Pennsylvania last December and pursued my life long dream of becoming a ski bum last winter by moving to Park City with my girlfriend and working at the Canyons. After the season I was hit by the real world and was somewhat forced to move back home to find a real job in Pittsburgh. It didnt really go as plan in that I couldnt find a job here. I was really bummin...my girl took a job in Phily and I was stuck in pittsburgh. I recently descided to move back to Park City again for the season, bc things have been so terrible here in PA. My plan is to do another season and then hopefully move to Denver on a whim to get a "real job"after the season.

Anyway, my point is that times have been rough for me and the thought of moving back to the mountains again is what keeps me going. I can see here that you all share my passion for that feeling only skiing/riding can give you. I have found comfort in coming here, even just to read about other people who are in the same situation as me. Most people I know just dont get it. As you can imagine most people from PA think im nuts. I say they dont know whats up.

So a big whats up to all of you. Hope this wasnt too corny. Cant wait till it snows. Peace.

Most people I knew in PA didn't get it either, so I moved to Denver. People seem to get it here, more so than there. Keep your chin up JONG.

We understand brother! When I gave up being president of my own company to become a minimum wage slave @ Keystone/ A-Basin ,no one back home could understand it.

They all said the same thing," You've only skied like 4 days in your life ,how do you know you want to live in Colorado?" & "You'll be back in no time." That was 14 years ago!

I try to explain it to them like this.

Since you have no common frame of reference,It's hard for you to grasp the significance of the situation!

Sometimes I guess you just know!

You're not a real ski bum if you have a girlfriend.
If you have a problem & think that someone else is going to solve it for you then you have two problems.

Its all about the Yuengling...and Gennesee? what are you thinking with that swill....as for the girlfriend..i was glad I had one when I saw the girl selection of a ski town: Butch chicks and Wookies for the most part...the guy girl ratio was like 70:30 also....although Sundance brought in some tail...

Ps. Has anyone out there done the Utah Interconnect? Thinking about checking it out this winter

Not a bad move considering your age - you can probably forget about the girlfriend, though...oh well.

I have friend in PC who owns a restaurant. If you are looking for an evening job (and you obviously should be), pm me and I'll see if he can hook you up with an employment opportunity, Mssr. JONG.

I might have someone interested. It's a good friend of mine that lived with me last winter. He went back to Vancouver for the summer and I turned his room into my office. He may need a place when he gets back since sleeping on the canyons gondy is frowned upon.

Oh yeah, that's what I'm talking about. All we ever drank in college was Yuglick. Its ok, just not ALL the time. Eventually we had to shift to cheaper brews due to budget cut-backs. Best buy EVER was Genesee Red, came in a 36 pack. Yeah you read that right 36 pack. It was $12.75 for a weekend of drinking pleasure.

Now that I have money (sometimes) I go with the Guiness myself. I like to consider myself sponsored by them.

Well, here is another PA dude who found his way out here. Not going back there!

Rolling Rock did the trick back in the day.

I think that leaves Bum Z left to post? I know there is more (from PA).

I like to pretend the same thing…same with zig-zag rolling papers and snickers bars.

I even gave them a plug in this video. (warning! No hucking or ripping…just mellow pow turns)
