Spokane River-has it ever been run?

Just curious if this badass looking stretch of river thru town has ever been run in a kayak or raft?

Having driven past Spokane many times my wife wanted to go downtown this trip. I wandered around and to my amazement saw this incredible river. The power was tremendous and am not sure if there are death zones (dams) above or below this stretch. Just standing above the big drop (hole) on the suspension bridge confirmed how content I am running easy rivers!

Saw the first pic and was like "WTF is he talking about... gnar whitewater... pft...", then I scrolled down... lol. That looks awesome...

I hard to really tell what is going on with the water right below the bridge, but it looks good above, and has a what looks to be a clean run out below, so if someone hasnt run it, someone should.

Looks like something Rob Lesser would have looked at back in the day, as it was in his back yard. If he didn't run it, it's for a pretty damn good reason.

It has been run. By a few people I think. But it is illegal and the hydro company owns the access and enforces a strict no trespassing policy. I am working in Spokane and have been there a few times and done the same thing. Any boater who goes to downtown Spokane will inevitably spend some time leaning over the bridge envisioning lines. Very impressive. There are some sick surf waves formed by the bedrock geology that would be epic surfs at the lip of a huge drop. Good stuff...
