    Pixies TR - Bend, OR

I got to party with steepconcrete, nongrata, and schralper here in Bend for the first stop of the Pixies US tour.

sorry, no pics. Just wanted to post about maggots getting together and rocking out on a beautiful autumn night to the PIXIES!

Hands down one of the most inventive 4 person rock and roll bands ever. Gawd, i just love them. So cool. So creative. And so cool to see the 4 of them playing the songs, vs. listening on cd.

15 years after they put out Surfer Rosa and the music is still incredibly vibrant.

Death Cab for Cutie was cool, we didnt' pay much attention to the decemberists.

rock on. good to meet fellow maggots. that is all.

Damn straight the show was sweet! It was so cool to meet Tap, Ms. Tap and Nongrata. It was also cool to hang with a bunch of really cool strangers at this party where I met Tap. And of course last but not least, seeing the Schriznalp on his b-day in his "SMILE MOTHERFUCKER" t-shirt was a total classic.

The set was great, NonGrata hooked us all up with a rad spot he had saved in in front of the soundboard, and the time seemed to stand still- I forgot where I was... then Ian's girl passed out on me. I have never seen anyone pass out, re-gain, just too pass out again about 4 times in a 90 second period. Tweaked me out for just a bit-- she was burning up hot, shaking and Ian was too twisted into the shit looking over her at the show to know what was going on untill I grabed him. A limp 100lb body is really hard to pick up, well harder than youd think. Expecially when stoned out of your goard, kinda like WTF. I guess she turned out to be ok, but spent the rest of the show chilling out to say the least. Got over that wacky drugged chick trip quickly and the rest of the set was sick, they ended with "Caribou".

After the set we (Tap Mrs. Tap and myself) split paths with NonGrata, but not before Tap, Mrs. Tap, and NonGrata make plans to hook up at the Domino Room. We then kinda got lost walking back, but we soon backtracked and figured it out. The drive back went soo smooth and fast, I was so amped from the show it felt like nothing.

Its still a mystery how my back ended up hurting so fucking bad.

Toally rad time, thanks to Tap and Mrs. TAp, who are two of the coolest people youd ever meet, they made me feel totally welcome at a rad party where I was a total stranger, hooked me up with a ticket, and hooked my friend Stewart up with a snowboard for dirt cheap. Oh yea, Stew just came to pick up the slow-bored, totally dug it.

I forgot to add that while waiting thru the opening bands, we got to drink beers and look at Bachelor, and it appears to have more snow than usual left over this summer. OH YEA!

heh, some details coming back to me now...

nongrata did get us a killer killer spot up close, right in front of the soundboard. thanks, man. that was huge. great to meet you finally and fukkin' way to go - coming all the way from NYC to Bend to see the Pixies and get some mountian time in. Hope your trip was everything you wanted it to be.

I still can't believe I finally got to see the Pixies. What a dream! And with my wife, who has been a Pixies fan for as long as I have, if not a few years longer. I hadn't seen her this stoked for a concert in a long long time. And we got to see it together...sometimes you just wonder how fabulously syncronious life can be.

Some people don't understand how other people hold up their cell phones at concerts, I just had to hold it up so my brother in chicago could listen during "Gigantic". He was stoked.

happy birthday, schralper, ya big fokker! Who knows how old that guy is? 45? 25? Doesn't matter. He didn't stick around the beer garden too long though...musta been his new "girlfriend" (!).

steep - super cool hanging with you. come by anytime, especially this winter for turns. Glad you got home safe. Time to order the LiveDisc version of the show now.

Nooks and I went to the Domino Room afterward and stayed till about 1. OK, so the "big" DJ set by the lead singer of Death Cab for Cutie was done on his IPod. I don't know about you, but I'm not down with the wole IPod DJ set. It was weak. Plus, he played Micheal McDonald. Fuk that. But then a raging 3 person punk band played for a while. We split when our heads began to hurt.

Rage films premiere this upcoming Friday and then David Grisman Quintet at the Athletic Club on Saturday, and then Joe Doe (from the neo-punk band "X") at the Grove during the Film Festival.

    September is ROCKING!

Fuck Ya! Melvins are great. A little old, but still good. I will rock the Stoner Witch (favorite) album occasionally.

Not too sure about the Melvins' album "Hooch". I believe "Hooch" is a song on "Houdini" though. Which is an excellent album as well.

nice meeting both of you, tap's wifey and soon-to-be tap jr.

i had no idea how many songs they actually played until you posted the set list. i was so into it that it went really quickly. can't wait to catch them on their way out here in new york but i definitely had to fit in an outdoor venue like bend... it was sooooo worth it. i would've meet up with you all the domino room but i had to wait out a jam in the parking lot, drove around in circles (as i always wind up doin) and ended up driving to the cascades and bachelor to take in the night sky. not used to seeing those sparkly star thingies.
