    Question TGR Showings?

    Since the Ab rockies didn't make the list of SP showings, I'm looking for some iidea of what would be involved with setting one up. I saw the email link looking for promoters in the showings thread, but don't want to tie up the TGR dudes unless I actually have something to offer.
    Since we seem to only get the WM offering and only one of the local shops is represented this way, I figure there should be an opportunity. I have some available time but no clue as to what would be involved. Any insight from maggots who may have been involved in this type of thing would be appreciated.

    I felt the same way about Montreal. I dropped TGR an email asking about it and got a call from their East Coast/Canadian tour manager. Basically it's a lot of work to set-up/promote a showing (more work than I can spare anyhow), but I was able to hook him up with a Montreal promoter and offer suggestions for venues. Dude seemed grateful and things look promising (still waiting for an update...).

    Bottom line: it can't hurt to contact them. It'll hurt even less if you search your area for promoters, venues etc. and can get the right people talking to each other.

    Sick and ashamed and happy (and offering less than two cents),

    PlayHarder;

    I had a similar question about getting a screening of Soul Purpose in the little town I live in (Chicago). I saw a thread about it in "Ask TGR" forum. I've been in contact with Dave at TGR. His Email: dave AT tetongravity DOT com

    I thought about doing this in LA, but it's a ton of work to promote something like that in a city this big. If I remember correctly, they take either a percentage of the ticket sales, or ~$200, whichever is greater. So if you host a showing, and no one shows up, you will lose at a bare minimum $200 (assuming the venue was free and you had no other costs).
