    Longboards?

(Reposted from Padded Room cos I'm a jong, cheers irul&ublo)

Because I'm a filthy, layabout hippy-student, I thought I might buy a Longboard. On the basis of ignorance and poverty, have these in mind :

I'm 5'11'', 170lbs; either of them any good? Which one best?

    Cheers guys.

Do you realize that you've just posted an admission of ignorance so breathtaking that it disqualifies you from commenting on any political or economic threads from here on out?

What? Skate questions in the Surf Forum???

I would help, but I don't know shit about skate boards. Thought it was a surf board question. In which case - they all blow. Buy an Egg at least.

Eggs are so gay it hurts. Longboards are for summer chilling on the beach with beer and girls in bikinis. Ergo, they don't suck.

Skate longboards are fun if you've got nice paved hills for bombing. Or if you need to pose.

Eggs are gay? Dude, they are Eggs. Duh.

Any longboard with three fins, or weighing less than 25#, or with a leash plug is basically an Egg. I mean, they are like cheating.

In all honesty, I love my '64 Rick. So *real* longboards are OK.

And I had a version of an Egg for years. It was 7'6" x 22". It surfed summer slop and 15' winter walls. That thing was sick.

Like I said - I don't skate, so don't know the difference between boards. But longboards are fun for carving around Pleasure Point on. In and out of the water.

I liked the dichotomy today at pleasure. Ripping shortboarders and donkeys on longboards.

    Ahh Santa Cruz

I've an earthboard. Unless you have good hills to bomb, buy a regular short skateboard and learn to ride it well. Cruising around on campus is gay. But you are welsh, so I guess that's ok.

Isn't Durham too sedate to allow for shralping the pavement gnarr Edg?

I had a banana board and it was the shit.

It's about 50cm of pure plastic rock star badass skate cool.

I know nothing about long boards.

They are crap... Think wal-mart style longboards.

Spend $100-150 and get a good board with great trucks, sick wheels and good bearings. Because that is where your money should be going in a long board.
