The inside story on the world record waterfall run on InBetween Swims!
Don't believe the hype! Don't believe the hate!
In this special episode of InBetween Swims:The Whitewater Podcast, I speak with Team Leader Ben Stookesberry about Pedro Oliva's World Record run of the 128ft Salto Belo on the Rio Sacre in Brazil.
Ben speaks to the mechanics of running a 100+ footer, the controversy surrounding Pedro's landing, and the place that dropping big waterfalls has in the sport.
I don't see how he didn't swim landing upside down off of 127 feet. I have seen people land that way from 40 feet and they are instantly ejected. There is just NO EVIDENCE that he didn't swim. I don't agree at all that big waterfalls are lame, I think catching air no matter the medium kicks ass. Pedro could have fibbed to Ben about staying in his boat. I don't really care either way.
