Thats why I put "...could.." and "...maybe, just possibly..." in the argument.

Unfortunately, that is the type of skier that Breck gets a lot of - with or with out a lift up to the summit. Jeez, I'm sure anyone who's ever skiied the T-bar has seen people totally out of their depth trying to get up there, and, yes, I agree a new lift such as that will only help them, instead of them having to make the commitment to the hike, and as such keeping it a pretty closed out, experts only kind of area.

But I have also spent the day hiking 4-5 laps in the upper bowls of Breck - Lake, Imperial, Peak 7 and Whale's Tail - just as many others who live in town have and do, and whilst this is part of the fun of it, there are certainly times when I've been halfway up Peak 7 as the 3rd or 4th lap and thought to myself "Why can't they just put a lift in to get me up here?"

Also, if it does open up more terrain, hopefully it will make it easier to escape the folks of Texas and Kentucky that you don't want to ski with, rather than be waiting in a line at the bottom of the T-bar as they slide back down Porkchop where they've tried to sit down!

Do you mean Crystal Peak? Isn't that closer to Peak 10, and wouldn't that be a hassle to access via 8? Of course, I realize a) you could be referring to something else, b) I'm not as familiar with the topography as I think c) something else I'm not realizing.

Under Breck's area operating license, they have to maintain the terrain on the backside of Lake Chutes, and the terrain just the other side of the boundary as you hike up to Lake and go by at WayOut/Double barrel all the way down to boneyard and 6 chair before it joins back up with the boundary by E-Chair. Although at the bottom its flat, the back side of Lake looks pretty fun. If they are looking to expand that, with say just a simple fixed grip to return you, it MAY JUST, POSSIBLY be worth it.

This thread is interesting. I haven't spent much time on 7/8, but the little I have, I have enjoyed the untracked snow that can be found almost without end with some effort. From that perspective, not a fan of more convenient access for the masses. But, since beginning to get into the bc this spring, thoughts of better bc access are of interest as well.

When you say 'maintain', what do you mean exactly? They don't do mitigation on that terrain you describe, right? Currently that's all ob, right (I don't know, but would guess there may be some access gates to that terrain). But, you're thinking they may expand the area they patrol/mitigate, and possibly add another chair to bring you back from the 'backside' of 8? Or am I not following?
