Looks like rain in NoCo and area all weekend, but it appears that elevation should be getting snow.
Have to call an audible later this week, but if it happens, Jtran and I will be there bright and early saturday am.

yeh i saw the weather report in conway and told myself that has nothing to do with weather in the ravine. so i checked the observatory and they use the R word more than the S word. but luckily, its a week away and that is forever in meteorological terms at mt washington.
im still hoping for the goodness. nothing tastes worse than a bowl of bulletproof.

Weather permitting I'm going to make it out there for a day this weekend. For now it looks like hold off until Thursday to re-evaluate the weather/conditions.

Will keep an eye on this thread. Can't do this weekend but last I checked (still early I admit), weather looks tough for this weekend. Still hasn't really softened up there. Nightime temps for the little I've seen are still frigid and expected to stay pretty cold this week. Even though Sunday may be high 30s and sunny up there, lows in the teens Saturday night makes it tough to soften. I may hold off a bit and hopefully summit gets pushed back. If not, hope ya'll have a blast up there this weekend.

Any mags considering a first time Mt. Washington assault welcome to shoot me a PM for some guidance. By no means all knowing but there is a fine line between having an epic day you'll never forget and having a miserable and hair raising experience. This weekend is no go in my world.

^^^^ Seconded, thirded, whatever it is...

Past Sunday (4/5) was one of the most trying days above tree line in a long time. Took 2 noobies up from Pinkham, decide on the fly where to ski, ended up booting Hillman's in 35-40 MPH winds, flying ice, rock solid 'snow'. Nothing I have seen in the weather forecast or predictions would change the fact that skiing will be marginal without some serious solar gain.

Sherbie was nice, top 3/4 was awesome turns, some bare spots, overall nice snow. Bottom is pretty much done, 2 stream wash-outs, very little cover, rocks abound under thin cover.

Good luck, I will be watching the Masters!

Yeah, it's not looking so good. I'm still going to give it a go, maybe Saturday rather than Friday.

I will be heading up tomorrow night and staying at the Hermit lake until Sat. Morning. If any other maggots are up there - look for a blue helmet with "C" on fire.

Change for a nickle still - or did I just make myself sound old?

Yeah. I'm heading to the Conway area on Friday night to visit family. I might just not bring skis. A skin of whatever snow is left on Cranmore in the rain would probably be way more fun than Washington this weekend. Although weather can change.

Phall and I are out due to the weather, but are still trying to make it up at some point before the snow melts.

Today: The skiing conditions are terrible and long sliding falls are a real concern. Bring crampons, an ice axe and the ability to use these tools in order to safely travel in steep terrain.

just reading the tuckerman avy report makes me want to go to florida

sure it can change, but if they don't get enough to cover what's underneath it sounds like it'll ski like ungroomed trails did today

People should learn endurance; they should learn to endure the discomforts of heat and cold, hunger and thirst; they should learn to be patient when receiving abuse and scorn; for it is the practice of endurance that quenches the fire of worldly passions which is burning up their bodies.

Yes, fully skiable (as long as you don't mind a little dirt and rock).

Once the Sherburne is gone, hiking out of Tux really sucks.
