He charged some of those coolies so hard I thought he was going to go down, but he seems like a cat, the way he always lands on his feet. His spins are beautiful. There's a reason the pros are pros. They make it look easy.
God Damn. That is what it's all about.
Screw the net, Surf the backcountry!
this is not really meant to be a knock on tanner, as much as a comparison/compliment to candide, but considering they both came from the park scene, candide seems much more content to ski lines fast and straight air them with flow as opposed to tanner who seems like hes merely getting to his next feature to spin off. That being said, spinning off cliffs is insanely difficult, just different styles. I prefer the fast, fluid, linking lines to those that are clearly designed for one specific air.
again, not trying to start a debate about the merits of tanners freeriding ability, just a viewing preference.
That gave me...

Nothing is more dangerous to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. The very basic core of a man’s living spirit is his passion for adventure.
I kind of agree. However I think its the shifty he does on every other clip in that trailer. It is technically hard to do, sometimes he makes it look great but others just look dumb and there are a few he tries to throw off-balance that lead to those sketchy landing clips. More of them probably would look better if you shoot tight slow motion, but in realtime shot from a distance I think it doesn't looks so hot. I think it's like some sort of new signature cliff air style he's trying to progress by the fact he throws in almost every situation he can do it in.

That music was a refreshing change from the fast paced rock typical in other ski movies

Home sweet home.
the dude is like a cat. cat's don't have style when they're falling, they just stomp that shit out.
god created man. winchester and baseball bats made them equal - evel kenievel
more park...less powder.
Just watched it again, at 1:44 you get a close up of his bindings, looks like he's running STH 16s instead of the Coreupt binding. I wonder what's up with that?
That was stellar. He can spin but doesn't do it every fookin opportunity he gets. I dig that. I haven't seen lines charged like that in any other recent flick. But enough about Candide.... with cinematography and editing like that it almost doesn't matter who's skiing or how. Huge kudos to the dudes who put that together.
Smoke dope, jump rope, eat glass and kick ass...ROCK STEADY!
Incredibly smooth sking. So much confidence - it just made me really happy to watch, thanks for posting!
He does have that kind of style, Tanner looks similar I find in that type of terrain.
But yeah, this is absolutely ridiculously sick. I've watched it 4 or 5 times now. The filming, editing, it's just pure awesome. I love how it's mostly full lines shown at full speed, that is real skill right there.
And yeah, B-? He stomped a double where he was off balance in the air off the second (watch 4:10) then hauls ass into what appears to be a natural takeoff 1080 to stomp. That is amazing.
Soundtrack info anyone? Checked his site as well as the production studio site....
to those hating on candide's skiing
pssst...he's better than you
that shit was awesome
Since when do we call twisters "shiftys"?
Putting the "core" in corporate, one turn at a time.

The Bonin Petrels
This takes me back to High Life, where Kreitler disses on park skiers for being guys that "just take off and land" and "not real skiers". Then Candide's park segment follows directly after. Kinda ironic.
Sick video![]()
All I know is that I don't know nothin'... and that's fine.
^^^^Most of us, yes, teamdirt.....no.
Wicked skiing and editing, too bad people want to pick it apart. off axis 7 off a cliff to flat landing? pfffft...
meh, they are both rad. but why pick it apart? no one picks shit like that apart....
i dunno i guess if i was a pro skier and saw somthing like that id prolly be a little agitated. i dont know if i would try to discredit it, but still....

I loved it so much I watched it twice!
In some of those charging lines it felt to me like it was sped up a bit to make it look like he was really flying through there. The spray dissipates and he drops just a little too fast. Maybe I'm just used to everything being slowed down.
The feel is a lot like the intro to The Fine Line.
I agree that most of what looks like flailing is him doing shifties and styling it a bit. I know that in my big air days I'd get a little bored in the air and end up moving around. I'm sure it looked like flailing.
Can't say much more than what's already been said.
I didn't even notice the arm flailing, I was too busy watching him slay those lines.
Most inspirational ski film segment I've seen in a long time.
That clip had me feeling like I just shot some smack.
lucky...........
People should learn endurance; they should learn to endure the discomforts of heat and cold, hunger and thirst; they should learn to be patient when receiving abuse and scorn; for it is the practice of endurance that quenches the fire of worldly passions which is burning up their bodies.
