Fucking sweet. Right there with the EH self edit.

From what I can see, he wasn't flailing. He was throwing grabs and shifties. If he were off-balance, he wouldn't have stomped the landings so cleanly. I think the problem is that it's hard to tell because most scenes were filmed from a distance, which was sweet because they showed him ski whole lines (as opposed to 3-second edits of individual cliff drops).

That was fucking sick....the music, editing....that's what I'm talking about. It makes me want to watch it again!

He does have that ex-mogul skier locked knee syndrome but hell, he's lining up those lines like its a slopestyle....pretty solid shit right there.

That was certainly nice! Great edit.

He could use to slow down a few of those lines for the camera. He moves so fast, that as a viewer, I feel like I miss some of it.

IMO, the perfectly placed slash is what makes EH the best camera slut right now. Everyone else should take lessons.

    That editing was beautiful.......

And Candide is an amazing park skier.

But he needs to learn to quit flailing with his arms off drops.

Quiet that shit up. Should call that edit "IT'S GOOD"!!!

    Besides that, awesome.

    Too funny!

I say he was doing the hokey pokey. Now that's futureschool.

Seriously le rad, though. I've always thought that Candide's "saves" were as great as anything else he does- saw him cheat death on the bottom booter of the slopestyle course in Aspen one year, somehow pulling out and riding away clean from a muffed trick that had him plummeting towards the deck totally out of control and head-first while the entire crowd held its breath- and fast, fluid comp lines like these are the best way to show off his insane athleticism and reflexes.

    Groovy camera stuff, too.

Years ago when TGR was filming with Candide it was always a cluster trying to line up schedules. The guy is HUGE in Euroland and between all of his private invitationals, film commitments with sponsors, etc it was really tough to get any camera time with him.

When it did happen TGR was always REALLY stoked and I think Candide liked it as well.

I would go out on a limb to say the only reason they haven't filmed together of late is just the scheduling.

Definitely a unique style. Fast, composed, and strong as hell. The only parts where it isn't totally clean and in-control looking are when he throws his arms on some drops.

Don't forget he was a mogul skier, beating adults ass when 15....
And win a freeride comp in 1999 or so, with 2 backflips in his line (there was guy as Michaud, Harrison, and other rider from those time)

Just know that edit is just an "intro" ;-)
Whoaaa!! I'm not knocking Candide's ability at all!!! He is an amazing skier!

I was just mentioning why that might have looked cleaner than IFSA comp skiing...

    edit:
I uploaded a version to vimeo...I hate propitiatory flash players. That being said, it's worth going to his site as I'm sure they appreciate the traffic and that version has better resolution-

He definitely has a style all his own. I like it.

He seemed to have an uncanny awareness of exactly where and where not to go ... I wonder how much of that he's skied before, and how well he knew some of those lines?

I guess this is more of a general question for all of the skiers you see in films - Is it possible to flash line after line like that by just scoping it out from a bird or across the valley?

That seems like cramming for a pop-quiz with more dire consequences than a failing grade.

I think there is some arm flailing; however, Candide is not snow-plowing down the line, yelling to his camera man that he is ready for internet fame, lining up his take-off, and then dropping in. He is skiing a fluid continual dynamic line, and coming into many of the drops off axis. I would rather see someone "right" themselves and ski fluidly, than stick a pose after prepping for 10 minutes.

i'd put money that anyone who is accusing him of flailing is not that good of a skier. he's just skiing naturally. kreitler skis with his arms wide and when he was at his best he was the best. that clip was some of the sickest movie shit i've seen. not all good skiers look the same when they ski.

My orders came through. My squadron ships out tomorrow. We're bombing the storage depots at Daiquiri at 1800 hours. We're coming in from the north, below their radar.
