My buddy helped pull out a body at Poplar State Beach, Sunday, at 1340. Unknown ID so far, unknown MOI. The guy supposedly had a wetsuit on, and kiteboarding gear back up on the beach. Looked like he went for a swim after kiting and drowned.

"Yo!! Brentley! Ya wanna get faded before work?"
That sucks.
How is your buddy holding together - that has to be a bit of a shock to the system.
He's not doing too good. A certain locally contracted EMS agency and a certain local FD were sitting up on the bluff watching the whole thing. There were people on the beach doing CPR, and ALS people with equipment on the bluff, standing up there with their thumbs in their asses. I would be embarrassed to know I had equipment to intubate in my rig and wasn't using it. The guy was young, healthy and cold(due to the water, not time down). I can't speak for SF or SC Counties, but if you get hurt in San Mateo County, you had better have help with you. Our EMS SUCKS!!

Yah, that sucks. Last year I had a buddy that was staying in a cheap motel on the beach in Mexico. At about 6 am he was woke up by a bunch of yelling and screaming and shit. He was kinda pissed but went back to sleep. When he finally got up, he found out that some lady drowned about 200 yeards away from him. I caught up with him 2 days later and he was still kinda freaked out. He only heard the commotion, but he had to call him mommy and shit. We surfed for about 3 weeks then left on a friday. On monday a couple days later there was a fatal shark attack about 400 yards in the opposite direction. Bad juju in that area.
