Haha, I had a the same thing happen with the last serious girl. Started teaching here to ski(mind you this is about 2 years into the whole relationship), we set her up with some awesome instructers at sugarbush, all was good, I got to go rip with friends, she got instructor to help her on greens all day. Well then she started to move up to blues, you know probably had 4-5 days on snow, real slow learning deal. First day she actually skied with me all day, well she got hit by some idiot, seperated her shoulder. Said she never would never ski again. This is where it gets good, a month later i broke up with her, moved to colorado and haven't looked back since.

Now I only date skiers or snowboardes, hahaha, me to, you know any in town? hahaha,

um, are you my soul mate?

ok that is too weird -- i actually broke up with my non-skiier about a month after the injury as well -- from a pay phone at the base of squaw (after a year and a half) -- and never looked back! (he is now engaged and living in manhattan, so it had a happy ending for him too -- at least by his definition of happiness.)

so where are you now in colorado? maybe i DO know someone...

Blew it on a landing the biggest air of the day at a Freeskiing comp.....

My GF left me after I blew....

Oh, wait, I haven't had a serious GF since I started skiing. Could there be a connection?

It is pretty good, I think anyway. To preface it, she thinks I'm this big hot shot that skis fast or goes big only because it might be cool, not because I just really enjoy it and get a big adrenaline rush out of it.

So, I enter the first Telemark free ski comp of the year at Alpine Meadows. The first qualifier I decide to go drop a cliff which turned out to be pretty big. It was okay though, except for the tree I hit in the landing zone. Didn't land right on it, but slid into it. She was not with me, she was home in Salt Lake. So, I have surgery a week later, she comes to see me, leaves after 45 minutes because she made some hot shot reference and it pissed me off so I made one comment about how she has no clue. She didn't necessarily take offense to it at the time, or so I thought, just left and never showed up again. Kind of a hooker, it's all good now though, new knee, new skis, new season, still working on the new gf, not too hard though, yet anyway.

Bastard, stole my story Oh wait, you saw it. I'm thinking you're right, there might be a connection between skiing and not having a gf, it's all I can talk or think about since. What's the story with Jackson anyway?

haha -- telephil and telenater are pretty damn near the same person anyway. i cant keep you guys straight on this board and now you go confusing me even further. (i just had to read this thread about three times to get it.)

but this is an interesting slant on the issue -- NON-skiing girl who gets off on your skiing radness, leaves YOU after your injury! the bitter irony...

but whichever of tele-dee and tele-dum has the real injury (telephil, i believe) should get some major sympathy points. whichever wondertwin is in utah is out of luck -- i dont know anybody to set you up with.

the tele-twin who is in norcal i would set up with my roommate, if he can truly hang. she is seriously too cool for school, and of course a knockout. she skiied competitive freestyle in college and now only tele's because she "already did everything on alpine skis." she only dates guys 6'3" and over, though...

    Can I be Tele-dee?

I can hang pretty well on tele. I won't claim to be movie quality, but can generally hang with the 'Wood maggots without them having to wait.

Unfortunately, I'm significantly shorter than 6'3" but, I make up for it in width. Oh, yeah, and since you're new here, I also make up for it in hair....(maybe another reason for driving the bus).

Any woman who isn't with me is missing out on a great guy (Or so I keep telling myself through all the lonely nights.... )

haha. but, um, how significantly? roommate #1's height rule is hard-and-fast, width notwithstanding.

BUT my other roommate is very petite. also a knockout! she skis really well, but her real passion is windsurfing and surfing (she hung with the pros in maui for a few years). i dont THINK she tele's, though, so i was saving her for the unliberated-heeled maggots. plus shes majorly on the rebound right now. could be bad news...

Yeah, so I guess I'll take the title of Tele-dum, I don't mind, I am after all the one who took the big hit. The ridiculous thing of that whole story is she actually IS a skiing girl, pretty good too, just kind of bitchy. Appreciate the sympathy points, unfortunate that I live in Utah. You can't come up with anyone, even given the extra sympathy points? You should really try, this shouldn't be made public, sorry Nate, but TeleNater and I are on the board right now, 11:30 on a wednesday night, instead of with that one elusive significant other. Oh well, I prefer talking to people I don't know.

BTW, sorry for the hijack buzz.

EDIT: okay, so I have to give TeleNater credit, he was out with a girl earlier, I was, well.....nevermind

5'10" and built like a brick shithouse.

Not to worry, I've kind of got someone that I'm waiting on. She'll realize what she's missing out on sometime.

I don't give a rats ass whether any potential GF Boards, skis, or teles as long as they're interested in getting out to the slope inbounds and bc (snow camping really does need more body warmth).

Tele-dum..... I'm not sure that dessert with a taken woman really counts.

Funny, the skier gf thread topic comes up around this time every year. Skiers must get their groove on in the fall, while ever one else get's theirs in the spring.

Not to dis your sis Britney, but
already did everything on alpine skis

thats what I said!!! but i kinda believe her. she is pretty insane. oops, i mean extreme.

so this thread just keeps getting funnier. is that REALLY arty??? i'm DYING lol. no the afro doesnt count.

and i think its obvious why the ski gf topic comes up now -- if you dont have anyone "secured" by november, you're gonna be lonely till may (except for your ski buddies of course).

ok, to the teletwin who is "5'10" and built like a brick shithouse," as enticing as that description sounds, i hope you dont wait around for this girl too long - especially given the approaching november deadline!

and to the teletwin who was out having dessert with a married lady, please cross-reference the cougar thread.

btw, i probably should say that my roommates (if they knew) would not appreciate me pimping them out, in hopes of ingratiating myself to the maggots for gear deals, but what the hell i'm still bored at work.

so instead of going to yoga like we were supposed to last night, my new roommate and i bonded over a bottle of wine -- this is the petite one without the heighth requirement. turns out she is rebounding pretty hard, but that makes your job easier. hahaha. so she actually is more into BC snowboarding now (goes better with her surfing/windsurfing habit).

since weve covered the skiier/non-skiier topic, what do you guys think about skiier/snowboarder relationships?? does it help if she knows how to use an avy beacon and a shovel??
