    Trekkers for rolling terrain?

like X-C skiing trails type of terrain? I want to have something that I could do something like a snowshoe/X-C hike but have the option to ski as well if the opertunity presents itself. I'm going to use the lightest skinny ski I can find that can still go downhill well because its still about the downhill with me.

I'm stuck with alpine boots and am debating whether to go with trekkers or a touring binder. I've done some touring on trekkers and I realize how bad it can be going up and down with fat skis and skins but I've managed to deal with it. Is a dedicated A/T binding going to make that much of a difference with alpine boots or do you really have to get A/T boots to get the full effect?

Trekkers suck on rolling terrain because of the downhills. It is extremely hard to maintain balance when going down even a small hill. The best I can do is to drop into a tele-stance, and then hold it until the slope fades. You're just too high up off the ski to have good balance.

If you want versatilty, go with the Naxos or Diamirs. If you want cheap, go with the Trekkers.

for rolling terrain, get yourself some old merrell double leathers, some fischer europa 99's, rottafella 3 pin binders and learn to wax.

you can probably find all the gear (used) cheaper than a pair of at bindings and boots.

oh yeah and learn to telemark.

If you are looking for a pair of trekkers for a good deal let me know. I have a pair that I have used about 3 times. I bought them and then a few weeks later I got a set of freerides as a gift. PM me if youre interested.
