    They damn well better be.
WTF happened to the days of skiing in early October? I used to count on skiing K by OCt. 15, and sometimes it wasn't even that bad.

Sorry guys...they are not making snow this week according to rumor on the K-board. It was, however, snowing at Killington this morning and expected 2-4" accumulation!

The prevailing vibe is that they will open for top-to-bottom no earlier than 11/4.

Since they're going to lose the "first open area" race to Tenney I think they've just decided to save some money and wait for it to get colder more consistently.

Les Otten was a stupid shit. These guys are just trying to operate a bankrupt company.

but tenneys not fucking open! its basically a bunch of rails and hits with snow in between that does not count as an open ski area, now if they had a run that you could make turns on then thats an open ski area Tenneys just a skate park with snow its a big difference

Yep looks as gay I thought it would when I was biking there this summer wich was sick cause i didn't have to hike but as biking goes it was all freaking gravel roads I was hoping for some nice packed dirt but no, of course getting 25000 feet verticle in a day on a bike was sweet i couldn't feel my hands the next day even with the 5 inch front and rear travel

Not sure why, and I'll probably regret it, but I spent about 30 seconds trying to figure out the gay factor in the above shot. Couldn't do it.

    gay

\Gay\, a. [Compar. Gayer; superl. Gayest.] [F. gai, perhaps fr. OHG. g?hi swift, rapid, G. g["a]h, j["a]h, steep, hasty; or cf. OHG. w?hi beatiful, good. Cf. Jay.] 1. Excited with merriment; manifesting sportiveness or delight; inspiring delight; livery; merry.

The whole mountain with trees thing

It really didn't feel like a mountain when I was up there cause I couldn't see anything It was so weird to go up in a gondola and not feel like I went up at all. the picture isn't gay just the whole idea of skiing there unless of course it was last season with bottomless powder.

Mountains with trees? That's silly talk. At least you used some periods in your post this time. So are you saying it is gay skiing there cause there are trees? Because there is no snow right now? Because the gondola doesn't feel like it goes to the top? Or because the mountain is flamingly homosexual? Please clarify.

Uhm, by the way, if you went in those gay trees when you were riding your bike you would have found miles of dirt trails. Did you think about looking at the bike trailmap?

Bottomless powder?? Maybe you're confused. That is a picture of Killington in Vermont.

And I once saw a fellow there in a bright pink fartbag. So, yeah, it can be gay at times.

    Angry

This thread makes me angry. I think I need to hit akpowdermonkey with my ski pole because he thinks ski mountains with trees are gay and his post confused me. Also, the visual of a bright pink fartbag is disturbing first thing in the morning.

I believe I will go add some Bailey's to my coffee now.

Is he just not into skiing glades? Perhaps he's never SEEN an actual cut ski trail.

Well, AK - You should try skiing out East some time. I guarantee there are plenty of trails at old K-mart to keep your gut check working overtime.

I'm with the rest - please explain what is "gay" about the above pic. Quite confused.

You're gay for not being able to visualize being on skis doing 25000* vertical feet in one day in the same place. I think you'd change your mind if you followed Mtn Man around for a day there.

    * how many rides up was that?

There are many other mountains with trees in addition to the one pictured. I guess mountains are predominately homos.

Here's pics of the snow on the mtn today. Props to Shortski on the K board for these. Supposedly only a dusting but it looks like more to me:

Was just up on Mt. Moosilauke 4800' high and ~ 60 miles from Killi.

There was 8-14" with 2' drifts up near the summit.

Had those dipshits at Killi laid down a base this week, we would've had a pow day today.

whataya wanna bet that killington gets beat to open this year, and I'm not talking about Tenney making a ribbon of snow to ski on. Didn't somebody say that Sugarloaf had 6 inches? Thanks a lot Woodburry, you broke K marts streak thus taking away any motivation to try to get open early from the beancounters at ASC. GOD DAMNIT I WANT TO SKI i may be forced to go hike up and ski down on the grass
