    Digital SLR cameras

    Photo Type Mags/minons

Looking for a good SLR type digital, I have a Cannon AE-1 which has been my baby for the last few years and I picked up a Kodak Easy Share type camera for point and click shit last year, I'm looking to combine the two into a package deal, what should I be looking at? I'd like to spend @ $300-$400 Help

    PS
Any EC mags that wanna photoslut for me this year? I won't make you famous but it could be a good time
For sure, you have to be lost to find a place that can't be found, elseways everyone would know where it was

No way are you going to get a digital SLR for $300-400.

The new Canon Rebel Digital w/lens kit can be had brand new for around $900 if you shop around. That is one of, if not the cheapest digi SLR on the market to date.

In the $300-400 range, the Canon Powershot S45 is a great cam, but its not SLR. In the $500-650 range, there is the Canon G3 (4MP) and G5 (5MP).

I prefer the Canon's because of their incredibly precise color rendition. Do your homework though, all cams have their own little quirky things that can make you either love them or hate them.

This site is great for researching/comparing digicams:

I'm presently on the EC as well. Maybe we can hookup for a few runs/photos this winter...

    Good Luck.

That's pretty much the definitive digital camera site, and they have killer reviews of all the digital SLRs. The EOS 300 had a great review; but like hyasakyte said, it and pretty much every digital SLR is waaayyy out of your price range.

I'd love to get one too, but I just can't justify that price.

Oh and I second the Canon recommendation. My brother and sister both have Digital ELPHs and I have an old Rebel. Great cameras. In fact, I'm thinking of upgrading my SLR.

Just out of curiousity, what do you normally load in your film SLR, slide or color print film?

Well, I'm just a hack and I'm also a huge b/w geek. So I always use Kodak T-Max.

Does it have to be SLR? Are you looking for a good lense/zoom?

Here are some SLR alternatives with good lenses and flash hot shoe:

Panasonic Lumix FZ10 -not out yet but cool. $599 expected price.

Minolta Dimage Z1 - can be had for around $350.

Also if you want to look at picture quality GO TO THIS SITE You can look at photos taken with particular models and guage capability.
