As far as color goes 6mp per color chanel is bs, and the thoery that you need 18mp for the same color info as film is also bs. mega pixles only determine the cameras resolution, as far as color details goes, it depends on the bit depth of each pixel. Most digis have a bit depth of only 8 wich provides ok color, the newer cmeras have a bit depth of 16, while film is around 32. But color depth realy isnt a hudge concern, photoshop could not even work with color depths greater than 8 until CS came out and now its limited to a color depth of 16
By 18MP I was suggesting a 6MP sensor PER colour, which I've read (though, as you say, it could be bullshit) gives a similar resolution/colour to that obtainable by film. As for sensor size, up to now the Nikon has been one of the largest, whereas the chip used in the Minolta at 8MP has been small, giving high noise. So I think the camera I was suggesting would be one with a 6MP sensor for each colour, with a colour depth of 32-bit ppx, apparently giving film quality. The resolution IS important to the processing, along with colour depth, as not only is there greater information per pixel, but there are also more pixels to be edited over a given area - though this probably wouldn't be noticeable, I suppose, in a print - of course depending on size.

so far i'd say the best job to enable you to ride a lot is being a cook. work the morning shift, you don't work many days, you get a pass (i believe), lodging, food and plenty of time to ride.

if you snowboard, i'd suggest working for high cascade as their lodging is way better than windells. at windells you'd live at the ark. it's a poor excuse for a roof over your head that you will be at least 4 to a very small room. but if yer a skier, then that's the only jibber camp. working for the mountain.....well, i have no idea about that, but i'd assume with an operations job you wouldn't have any time to ride. you could work for the timberline lodge ...the hotel, then you'd have plenty or ride time with night shifts.

anyways, my 2 cents. avoid the photo job like the plague unless yer trying to get somewhere in the industry and need access to the pros and have no other means of getting that access to said "athletes".

thanks man. i htin kthere's another one in whistler called sms freeride. I'll look into finding a job in the hotel next year. Have you seen that free DVD that Helly-hansen gave out last year. The one instructor(i forget who) lived in an old army tent because hge said the housing at wendells was suspect. Good luck with your photog career.
