    Trip ideas...where would you go?

My piece of shit project for my piece of shit job should be done in a month, so I get to go for a vacation after 6 long months of no f-ing vacation (the longest I've gone in my life).

Any of you surf foos up for a trip? I'm thinking Mexico. My usual surf buds are either in Hawaii or Australia or Indo right now so they're out. and extra people always help keeping costs down.

So here's what I have thought of for Sep/Oct/ early Nov

    Mexico - Baja/Cabo. Cheap, easy, non-exotic.

Costa Rica/El Salvador. Rainy season = impossible to get to remote spots from flooded roads.

Indo. That $3k burning a hole in my pocket could be put to use.

Last resort...Oahu to try and score some early season swells around Nov....

I'm going to be in Yurp for September. Kinda bummed I'm not in SA, but I guess I can't argue. Going to cruise around Norway, Denmark, and Sweden. Then its back to school for me. One more year.

Otherwise I definitely would have been up for a little Mexico adventure.

Comish- you taking your board to Europe? I've always wanted to hit up Biarritz and Hossegor in the summer months with hot naked chicks.

    Portugal.
    Cheap. good waves. uncrowded.
    not much localism. nice people.
the water is always cool though. not cold, but even in summertime it does not get above 19°
in October / November the North Atlantic storm seson begins and serious swells are quite common.

    im going in two weeks.
    right here:

But i guess i will be to scared to surf it when the point starts working at 8feet+ so i guess ill stick to the beach break......

Nope and yep. I'm heading to Germany for family chit and then north to see fjords, glaciers, etc.

Biarritz is one of those places that I never did make it. I have an image in my head of all the topless, thong clad chicks sitting on the beach while I get to ride waves. That image does not suck!

You americans couldn't stand all the nakedness on the beach and would lose control of you surfing all the time...
better stay in the homeland of modern purity and christianity.
well except punani. we always welcome raw untamed sex machines like him because we've got so many horny women and we can not please them all........

So lets here more about Portugal and or Spain? What would the cost of living be for a few months? Maybe sept Oct early Nov? Is it worth bringing a board or buy one there? Would it help if i plastered my suitcase with anti Bush stickers? I get the idea that some people in Europe might not be to happy with Americans right now. I would not need much a nice room with a kitchen. Close to the beach. Maybe a small car or even a motorcycle to get around.

Just talked to Johnny Howard - he isn't going to let you in.

    Re think.

If you make it before the end of September hook up for a ski as well.

Portugal and northern spain are really cheap.... we pay 330 euros a week for a reaaally nice appartement 5 minutes away from arrifana. which can accomodate 4 people. (that would make 320 euros per person if used for a month and with 4 people ......) And thats only the expensive choice. You can stay on a campsite for about 5-7 euros a night if you want. The downside in both cases is you'll need a car unless you stay directly at a break like arrifana (more expensive). a rental car is vital (assuming if you're from he states).. that would cost about 160 euros a week (ok the smallest of the small cars... ) Most breaks have no village near them though.
I dont think The people wouldn't like you just because you're american. The portugese are very relaxed, but if you want to behave like an asshole the american issue could come up . But id guess they'd rather dislike me because there are usually more annoying german tourists crowding their breaks and forgetting the surf rules. (hey not me! im behaving very well ). Generally they're pretty friendly towards Tourons because there are so many breaks and when it's firing the rookie tourists like me don't get in their way....ok that might be different with you but usually they're not as badass as the locals in Mundaka......
I'd recommed going to southern Portugal: Nice breaks, Still very warm (sept/oct) , and fewer Local surfers / surfers who can drive there from hossegor....( Mundaka /northern spain is only 2h away from the big french surf spots....)

I hope i was able to help you

Naaah, I think the Jindy cops still have a Warrant out on me

But if you're gonna be around Av or Whaley I'd be hitting that up for a surf. (Staying at Bronte, and tripping up and down the coast)

Looks like mid-Oct is a go, as long as I don't get fucked in the arse at work.

Could do some drinks and lunch at Newport Arms - talent will be most plentiful during October.
