Not to mention it probably wouldn't work. Have you ever gotten sick from drinking or had a bad hangover? Yes, most of us have many times, yet we still drink. Why would it be any different with tobaccy?

No worries man. They are harder to find, but if you can get the low or no salt ones do it. Until you get used to it the salt can really mess up the inside of yer cheek and gum.

Keep a ziplock bag of dirt on you at all times. When you have the urge to chew just pack a wad of dirt in your cheek. That way you learn to associate your cravings with shitty dirt taste. If that doesnt work all that well then substitute the dirt with poop.

Pretty well. The first 3-4 days were the toughest so far. I think I have gotten over the initial "shock to the system" phase of not putting nicotine into my body. I get a craving a couple of times a day, but they aren't overpowering. I bought some of that herbal all natural snuff and it helps with the physical addiction of having something in my mouth. I've mostly just been keeping myself busy, keeping my mind off of it. Went out drinking the other night and did just fine. The biggest challenge will be skiing this Fall/winter. I'm going to miss throwing in a dip at the end of a long skin or on the chairlift.

When are you coming out to CO? Steamboat opening day possibility? Definitely not going to miss that.

    Good Luck!

I helped my buddy stop chewing by giving him sunflower seeds. I'm hooked on seeds, but at least they don't cause cancer.

I dipped AND smoked, sometimes simultaneously (intoxicated) for nearly 20 years. Last year - July 3rd at 10pm, to be exact - I had my last cigarette. My last dip was the night before. I used This shit:

    http://www.smokeaway.ws/

and it fucking worked. For real. After a week I could go to bars w/o getting the jones at all! After a month I didn't even think about tobacco anymore, not even after a big meal (always my downfall on previous attempts.) Now I'm actually one of those guys that'll move out of the way of wafting smoke. I do not make bitchy comments because that would be hypocritical, but my smoking friends have used me as a motivator to quit. Shit, I got most of them hooked in college.

The main problem w/the patch and the gum is that you're simply changing the nicotine delivery method, which has zero effect on your addiction. I know many people that are now hopelessly addicted to the gum. Will it kill them as fast as smoking? Of course not - but they're still spending $$'s on a habit they CAN break.

Good luck, be strong, and speak up if you need some support!

cool man! glad to hear that you're sticking to your plan. hang in there and you won't regret it...

i hate to say it, but skiing is not in my plans until the following season and i'm really bummed out about it. i haven't even tried to schedule my reconstruction yet, just thinking about another surgery really puts me in a bad place emotionally.

i'm hangin' in there though and am trying to put some plans together to be in denver sometime in september to party it up with you guys. crackhouse II?

Good reasons to stop dipping in case you need some help staying on the wagon.
