Splat - Any other beta on fire burn ski locations?

Saw the "Burnt Out" blip in PMag. Any other spots in the west that you had your eye on for that piece? I've had my eye on a spot above the Heber Valley that was burnt pretty good/bad (depending on how you look at it). Sounds like a good place to take some BW photos too. Midget, you listening?

I don't know if the Wallowa tram will be running this winter 04/05. For the few years in the late '90s when it was consistent at Xmas, we did it a number of times. I sort of cut my bc teeth there. But last year, the owners didn't open at all in the winter.

The word from the locals is that the tram owners are total bozos.

But send them email at: info@wallowalaketramway.com . If they get enough interest, maybe they'll open. Bring your skins and touring equipment if you go.

Here's a map of the mountain dh bike trails. The one going down the backside is where the I've done most of my skiing. That's the trail you can use to get to the snowpark in the winter, about 3200 vertical feet.

Powstash - mbs and I plan to expand our adventures and try to continue to map the West this year. Thnaks for noticing our blip.

And yes, Blurred was offered my chair ride but was caught when Summit tried to slide in on the deal. After skinning Ophir Pass one day on an hour's sleep, then doing Missionary Ridge on anhours sleep, Silverton kicked my ass, even though I got about 2-1/2 hours sleep before getting there.

But being a real tough guy, Blurred was ready to git up there -

    after arriving around noon.

Oh gawd Splat, can see why you're a good writer overdramatizing everything, but even worse the exaggerations.

Myself and a certain girl had been up all day Friday, ( I worked) we drove to Durango that night, (about 8 hours) and got 45 minutes of prison sleep at best. We woke Splat after sleeping for prolly closer to 6 hours. We met a character Splat doesn't want to reveal, and then embarked on the mission. After being up for about 24 hours, (minus the 45 mins.) I found myself hiking up a couloir in the middle of the San Juans somewhere. Splat, in all his majesty had another guy carry his skis up the couloir for him, and then told me that "the guy" carrying his skis was a "real man".

After jumping off stuff for Splat all day after that, we didn't get back to the hotel room until about 9 that night. Last time I saw Splat there was about 9:30pm and he was in his pajamas. He must have left Durango to get to Silverton at Midnight after his 2 and a half hour snooze. No wonder when we got to Silverton at noon, (not to ski but to only say goodbye to Splat and another female maggot) Splat was calling it a day. I think they opened the chair for him at 1:30 AM, and he'd been skiing all night.

I was then offered a chair ride, which I didn't ask for.

Guess that makes me a "tough guy".

We can give you the full story if you'd really like.

    Dude, grip down........
Guy skins my pack the last 100 feet cause I sinking past my hips bootpacking and it's majesty?? It was character, on his part.
As I recall, I was already relaxing at the top when you got there, Stud. Behind door number three, I found someone worthy to go ski Argentina with -the guy that offered to lend a hand.....

Things have a way of working out.

edit: I won't mention finding the trail out and waiting for you to make sure you hadn't lost your way.

    BWAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, you were relaxing as I made it to the top, I was busy helping my friends up like a real guide would do. Not like the joker that left my friend on her way out.

And give me a break, I was the first guy out, I was waiting for you guys. I then acted like a responsible human being and got the rest of us back together to hike out. That's what a real guide does.

Let's ask everyone that was there for the real story, remember that there IS only one guy from that trip that WOULD go with you to SA.
All the others that were there would go anywhere in the world with me on a moments notice. Think about it.

Excuse me... I was told there was a possibility for me to get in on it too so I followed along, was told to keep my "mouth shut while we ask" and I did so. Jenny said no. She didn't say "no Summit, yes Blurred" she didn't say "one not two" she said "no. nobody else." The same question would have been asked for one or two. I had nothing to do with it. Silverton nixed the plan, not me. There is no place for personal blame in this issue. I don't know why you are saying such things to begin with. You clearly didn't understand the situation.

Edit: If I had kept Blurred off of Silverton, he would have kicked my ass and I wouldn't have blamed him. He sure as hell doesn't place any blame on me. Why do you?
