    Utard to JH Parade 2/4?

OK, youse Ootahrd miscreants, who's driving up from SLC to JH on Friday 2/4 and back Sunday 2/7?

While I can sort of grok fiddler's choking on the JH lift pass (don't forget tram rides are extra...ugh) it's the $500 airfare from SeaTac to JH I can't stomach.

    So, what are ze options?

Buster, they did away with charging extra for tram rides at JH a few years ago (so that will save more $ for the Moose!). All included in the lift price these days.

Some of us from WA will be making the 'haul ass' trip East for a few days if you end up not routing through SLC.

Regarding the tram passes, OK, but it ain't going to make up for the airfare reamage.

The car slog from Seattle to JH is not one I want to do again, but I may take someone up on an offer. I've done that 16 hour burner a few too many times, so I'd prefer the option of 1.5 in the jet an 6 on the road, if possible.

If it's day time driving, you can make the trip from SLC to JH in 4 hours or so. Last couple of years living in Park City- we used to knock it out from 3.5 to 4 hours from Kimball Junction.

And yes, the slog from Seattle definitely sucks. Might look into flying into Boise or SLC.

Should you fly on the truncated tourist timeframe and wrenchset to either of these locales, pencil me in for sharing a rental.

I can only do a long weekend at best. And depending on how the fambily develops (ye daughter is in separation anxiety right now and explodes into buntings of agony and tears when more than 4 feet from mommy), the gal and nubblers may be in tow. How I'd love to ski the Hobacks in good snow with her.

    Anyway, just surveying options.

If things work out and I am able to make the summit, I'll be i nteh same boat. The wife and kids will not be makingthe trip, and my car is not road trip worthy. Carpooling would be necessary for me to make it. Of course, it is 6 months away and my plans coudl change.

My plan, which isn't really a plan is similar. Fly in SLC, drive up to JH. I'm hoping others might be into a long weekend. Maybe Weds night - Sun night?

For what it’s worth, flying into Idaho Falls can also be a cheaper alternative.

I'm doing the same kinda, either 1st weekend to midweek or midweek through the second weekend.

I can't plan that far in advance right now, but if i go I'll be driving/riding with somebody. If I drive 3 others can go with, preferably someone with mechanical aptitude

yea, I'm sure at some point my plan would involve driving from PC to JH - but it's way too soon to get anything definitive in - hell, I don't even have tomorrow's plans solidified - nevermind even having my plans for actually moving to PC in securely in place yet!

but i'll be there, one way or another. I don't know how long I'll stay in JH, but at this point, I'm assuming I'll have an extended stay & work with a partner/client while there.

I checked those flights out to idaho falls from NYC airports and they are in the mid $300's range. But we are talking 9-12 hour flights! I think SLC, then rent a car and drive might be a nicer option...

Nothing is even close to solid but I'm thinking of flying into SLC on Friday, crashing, possibly hitting something in the area on Saturday and then hauling ass to Jackson that night.

Sick and ashamed and happy (and I suppose that's all fairly meaningless),

Seriously, if you're flying into Idaho Falls from NYC, I bet your flight comes through SLC anyway...

I will try and shuttle anyone flying into Idaho falls back to Jackson, it is about an hour one way, so feasible for me.

As far as driving from SLC to JH, plan on 5 hours and then you won't be kidding yourself.

Buster, you presence is officially requested. You and I need to get together so we can have something to reminisce about later.

I think that a lot of East Coasters will be doing this. With JetBlue leaving late going out and later (red-eye) on the return, you will not be missing any days to travel. And you can't beat RT fares of $250.
Charlie, here comes the deuce. And when you speak of me, speak well.

I'm dying to go, but the corporate sphincter that holds me in is extreemly tight. The fuckers have screwed me for 2 weeks of vacation over te last two years and won't reimburse me. But my immediate managers are terrified I'll split, so "something" may be worked out. And I have to convince my wife to go too, since I hate missing my kids.

But if I show up, there's a good chance we won't have anything to remember. Heh.

For the cost, my best option is flying into SLC and then driving up to JH. Flying out of here is ridiculous unless you're headed to a major city.

depending on the snow report for the wasatch (and a possible BC epic tour with Trackhead to ski the Middle Teton) my Subaru with Thule Box may have room for you and a small quiver.

PM as we get closer. Too far out and still awaiting Red Baron's early Feb. weather report to make a decision at this point.
