I was going to title this Jesus H. Christ! Summit related

Lucky me, I got to sign up for vacation time during the summit. So I just looked at Jackson's website to check out lift ticket prices. Jesus H. Facking Christ, $67 for a day ticket. Group (of 25 skiers) tickets bought in advance from $54 to $49/day depending on number of days, 3 out of 4 up to 8 of 11. Insert choking sounds here.
Sooooo, does this make a difference to anyone else hoping to go, or is it just me?
I will only be able to ski for 3 days in the time I have. I'd pay $198 for a 3 out of 4 days ticket, $66 a day. But if I wanted to ski 3 straight days I'd pay the full $67/day. This prices me out. I don't care where it is, I'm not paying that much to ski. Guess I better buy the winning lotto ticket. Or more likely go somewhere I can afford unless I'm missing some deal I haven't found yet.

I don't understand this. Jackson Hole is one of the nation's premier ski resorts so what would you expect to pay? Even if the tickets were priced at $49 a pop, over three days you'd only be saving a total of $54 on what you'd be paying at the $67 full whack.

I appreciate that I don't know your financial position, dude, but $54 seems an awful small amount of money to swing a decision like that. Summit only comes round once a year. Think of the fun to be had.

I haveNEVER regretted any money I have ever spent to ski, especially at Jackson. You are getting a shit load for that $67. $54 is a great deal. Get up early, catch first box even if it is not a powder day and make a whole day of it. You will not be disappointed. I'd spend more than $67 a day to be there and ski with a bunch of home mountain maggots. Consider yourself lucky.

I would love to spend $67 bucks a day to ski with maggots, but some of us just can't afford that. There are poor people that ski also, don't forget.

It IS a bit expensive there's not arguing that. But you have plenty of time to put away $50 a week or whatever you can afford to save up for lift tickets for the summit. I would also add that Jackson is FUCKING BURLY AS FUCK and the extra money you are paying to get a ride up the moutnain is directly related to how wiped out you are after a day of hard charging, some getting, pow ripping and cliff dropping. I've skied at a few different places in the US and Europe and I can honestly say that Jackson Hole is one of the toughest, most challenging & FUN mountains out there.

bottom line: It's worth it. Save, go, rip.

what i do wish they would do is charge say $10 or so for a one rider on the tram. just up and out the gates. That would make skiing the ob a bit more palatable.

Of course the Hostelx will cost you about $16.75 a night if you split a 4 person room. All evens out. Food and drink are not very expensive in JH too.

I guess skiing is a lot cheaper in the PNW than it is elsewhere. In SoCal, Mammoth tickets are 57/62 (weekday/weekend), and for a measly 400 acres spread across two seperate resorts at Big Bear, you're paying 48/55 (regular/holiday).

Grand Targhee is only $53, and if the weather's right, I'd want to spend a day there, so you might want to factor that in.

Not to mention the added value of having TGR's skiers around for some guided tours. Imagine what a camp with these guys would run you for three days.

FKNA! I don't want to even think about what they'd charge... There's no way they'd run it like a camp, but I wonder how much they'd charge for a group tour for a day... It's still would be well over $100 per person not including the lift ticket.

For this alone, you should really do anything to be here - sell your back issues of Crack Smoker, pawn your bed and sleep on a bale of hay in a barn for the rest of the year, give loads and loads of blood 'til you're thouroghly unsafe behind the wheel, be the next Psychic Friend, sell your man mustard on a street corner in the Castro District... ANYTHING!!!

Yes, it's pretty pricey. Maybe we could put together a fund to help out the cash-strapped maggots. Anyone who can't afford lift tickets could draw from the fund to help. And if people are too proud and we have money left over it immediately goes to the Mangy Moose bar tab.

I'm just throwing this out there. I'll prolly drive because its too close to fly (it'll end up being the same price prolly). I plan on having two sleds by that time. Will there be anyone who could show me around? I could drag a few people behind me too and maybe we could rent a couple more sleds. What do you guys think? We could do this for 2-3 days for the same price as a day of skiing (hell, we could do it for weeks if we all pitched in $67 all at once). I'll admit, $67 for a day is steep. Wouldn't make me not ski, but still pretty steep.

I have some cardboard, we can make signs that say "Need money for skiing, anything helps, god bless" Then we stand out by the mall with the other solicitation engineers. We should do quite well with a new approach like that. I'm stoked now!

I agree,$67 bucks is pricey, but if the snows good,Jackson is very unique. It has amazing pitch & vert for the Rockies .My biggest beef with Jackson is the tramlines coupled with the fact that there's no other way to access Redezvous & the BC over there. They need to put in a lift ,even if it's only a poma above the Sublette chair.I love the Little Cloud lift at the Bird for that very reason. When the Tram is packed & slow, you can cruise over to the Gadzoom quad, where there's never a long line, then ride Little Cloud to the top.If they put that extra lift in,I ante up $67 without any quibbling!

In addition, the intangibles of skiing with the gang should more than compensate for the expenditures.

The are deals on lift tix with lodging there, last march it was $12 off. Also I have some $7 off coupons that they used to distribute to the shop I worked at.Call your local shop & see if they'll contact JH to send them some coupons. If they're unmotivated, call JH's marketing division & ask them to send you some or your local shop.
    Calmer than you dude
