I came back from a recent trip with an edge compression about 18” back on the shovel of my LPs that wasn’t there before. It doesn’t look like there is a crack and the sidewall appears watertight, but there is a slight bulge on the base.
Is there really anything worthwhile a shop can do? Or should I just file the edges, shut up and ski?
Eh that's nothing. You could have a shop do a base grind to get that section of base flat again, but its probably not even worth it. File the edge with a guide and call it good to go.
I had something similar happen on my gotamas last weekend, however it was in the vertical direction not horizontal. Like you said, the sidewall is intact and everything looks to be water tight still, so don't sweat it. It's something I will likely try to keep an eye on however, in case it develops into a real issue.
